1 Family Medicine Residency Program
2 West Kendall Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Center A new state-of-the-art facility adjacent to West Kendall Baptist Hospital, the Family Medicine Center was designed to promote the program s goal of providing leading practices in education and compassionate care in a high-tech and personal environment. The Family Medicine Center is the site of the resident and faculty continuity practice. It houses spacious, accessible exam rooms equipped with bedside computers for electronic charting, as well as resident office space and a high-tech meeting room wired for multimedia presentations and teleconferencing. Residents will work with the full spectrum of pediatric to adult patients and provide care for acute and chronic conditions. Florida International University Family Medicine Subinternships The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine offers fourth-year medical students inpatient and outpatient subinternships in family medicine at West Kendall Baptist Hospital. Participants work under the supervision of faculty and residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program. Subinternships are four weeks in length.
3 Agueda Hernandez, M.D. Director of West Kendall Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program Medical Director of Baptist Health Primary Care Family Medicine Center Message from the Program Director At the West Kendall Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, we build on the programs of excellence at Baptist Health South Florida and the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. With four residents per year, the residency program offers an individualized approach preparing clinically skilled physicians to work effectively as part of larger healthcare systems. Residents receive training in quality assessment and improvement, research and public policy, while developing leadership and team-building skills through collaboration on interprofessional teams and community engagement. We provide a high-tech and personalized patient- and family-centered environment coupled with unsurpassed excellence in quality of care measures and patient satisfaction scores.
