2 Ordinances Ammended O.3613A The names of persons recognized as University teachers for post graduate teaching who join services on approved post in other College / institution of the University of Mumbai shall continue to be on the list of recognized teachers of the University for PG teaching by papers. However he could also continue to be recognized guide if the other college / institution is recognized for research and do not have any objection. Further in case if the college in which the teacher has joined is not recognized for research, the recognized teacher has to submit the proof of attachment to a recognized research center by compliance of the process. Needless to say that the names of persons recognized as University teachers who have been appointed on higher post through CAS or selection including the post of Principal of the same college / institute shall remain on the list of recognized teachers of the University. If a recognized teacher of University assumes a charge at higher position on deputation or otherwise, in the University or the Govt he shall be deemed to enjoy the status of recognized PG teacher of the University during the period when he keeps lien. During the said period he shall continue to guide the students already registered at the material time. However he shall also be allowed to register the new students subject to the availability of seats in the recognized institute to which he belongs to and further if permitted by the appointing authority of the said higher post. Needless to say that the person on completion of tenure continues to enjoy the status as recognized PG teacher of the University till superannuation / retirement. The names of persons recognized as University teachers who have been appointed as Principal of college / institute in other University or at higher position in other University shall continue to guide the students already registered at the material time. However he will not be allowed to register the new students.

Professor and Associate Professor O.3626 Stands cancelled O.3628 Amended as follow: Teachers to be recognized for the Ph.D. degree must have : - A Ph.D. or D.Sc. degree in the subject and research publications, other than the publications based on thesis submitted for any research degree, which may include articles embodying the results of research or investigations published in recognized refereed journals to their credit, in the subject in which recognition in sought and two years experience of having taught post graduate classes or guided two PG students on approval by the concerned RRC and BUTR. An experience of having worked as Scientist in National Research Laboratories / Research Institutes / R & D in industry for five years in the relevant subject having Master s degree with B+/55% in the said subject and have minimum three research papers, other than the publications based on thesis submitted for any research degree on approval by the concerned RRC and the BUTR. Experience of at-least five years of teaching as approved teacher of this University at the undergraduate level and is recognized for post graduate teaching of this University who has successfully guided at least one students for M.Sc. by research/m. A. by research or has worked as co-guide for minimum of three M.Sc. by research/m. A. by research or two Ph.D. students in the said subject on approval by the concerned RRC and the BUTR. Experience of at-least five years of teaching as approved teacher of this University at the undergraduate level except faculty of technology and is recognized for post graduate teaching of this University who have minimum three research papers,

4 published in refereed journals, on approval from concerned RRC and the BUTR. Have considerable research work to their credit in addition to publications based on their thesis and have successfully guided at least one student for the Master s or Doctor s degree of any other University recognized by the Central councils such as UGC, Bar Council of India etc on approval by concerned RRC and the BUTR. However a person shall be deemed to be Ph.D. guide limited to the student who desires to continue Ph.D. in the allied topic of M.Sc. by research/m. A. by research under the same guide, on approval by RRC and the BUTR. Further a person may be allowed to be the self guide on the basis of his credentials and the research proposal, on approval by the concerned RRC and the BUTR. Special consideration may be given to such requests especially if no guide is available in the desired area of research. Further a person who is recognized guide of this University in one subject may be recognized in any other subjects/s of this University if he fulfills the eligibility criteria and/or deemed to be fit by the competent authorities and does not enroll more than the number of students for Ph.D. in various subjects taken together as per the UGC guidelines. O.3628 (B) A co-guide may be adopted for the purpose of completion of research work leading to the award of a research degree in any subject, at any stage of work, if deemed necessary by the research guide and /or student in consultation with the guide, irrespective of academic qualifications. Request for which shall be made by the guide to the university. The university shall intimate the co-guide in this regard, which shall be acknowledged by him.

5 Eligibility for Teachers to be recognized for Ph.D Guideship O.3628 FACULTY OF FINE ARTS PERFMING ARTS Eligibility for Teachers in Dance / Music / Theatre to be recognized for Ph.D guideship. 1. Ph.D in Dance / Music / Theatre years teaching experience as a Post Graduate Teacher recognized by the University of Mumbai. 3. Has guided at least 3 students for research at Post Graduate level. 4. Has completed at least Two Minor Research Projects awarded by UGC / University of Mumbai / an Institution officially recognized as a Research Centre by the Government of India. 4. Has presented papers with lecture demonstration in at least 5 National level Seminars or Conferences which are sponsored or organized by UGC or Govt. of India recognized Institutes. **********
