RESEARCH EXPERIENCES Research Assistant Growing Up Mobile in a Rural Trailer Park- Follow-up Phase 9/2014- Present Oregon State University Principal Investigator: Katherine MacTavish, Ph.D. Worked with P.I. and another graduate student researcher to attain Oregon State University Institutional Review Board approval of the follow-up phase of an earlier study. Revised original research protocol, created new recruitment and consent documents, and interview guides. Currently starting the first phase of recruitment and interviews. Principal Investigator McNair Scholars Summer Research Project. University of Oregon Parenting in Poverty: The Experiences of Fathers Who are Homeless. Faculty Advisor: Lauren Lindstrom, Ph.D. Developed original qualitative research study. Wrote research proposal, applied for and received University of Oregon Institutional Review Board approval, which included creation of recruitment flyer, interview protocols, and informed consent form. Conducted and transcribed interviews, analyzed data, wrote paper. Disseminated research to students, human service practitioners, and instructors. Research Intern Program Evaluation of Family and Human Services Program 1/2012-9/2012 University of Oregon Faculty Supervisor: Lauren Lindstrom, Ph.D. Worked with evaluation team to develop and distribute evaluation surveys to students, alumni, faculty, and community partners for Council for Standards in Human Service Education accreditation review. Collaborated in planning and facilitation of focus group. Utilized Qualtrics online survey software. Wrote sections of the evaluation report and participated in presentation of report to Family and Human Services program staff, faculty, and advisory board. 4 University of Oregon Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Student Support Services: Eugene, Oregon Junior Intern 9/ /2011 Created Oregon Pride (LGBTQ) alumni association. Compiled research, developed strategic plan, and created Oregon Pride webpage. Collaborated with eight member staff to assess, promote, and implement current student and community outreach programs. Trained as a BRIDGES outreach panelist (BRIDGES promotes community education of LGBT issues). RELEVANT EXPERIENCE Elmira Elementary School: Elmira, Oregon Tutor 9/2012-6/2013 Tutor third grade students in rural low-income school. Provide one on one in classroom assistance to students with behavioral and academic issues who have a difficult time learning in the larger classroom setting. Willagillespie Elementary School: Eugene, Oregon Teacher s Assistant 1/2012-6/2012 Assisted speech pathologist with creation of individualized educational materials for students with speech and language disorders. Researched and coordinated referrals for family resources in the community. Full Access: Eugene, Oregon Caregiver 1/2010-5/2010 Provided personal care and assistance for client with developmental and physical disabilities and mental illness. Assisted with daily care, medication disbursement, transportation and scheduling of medical and mental health appointments. Collaborated with client, case manager, and client s family to develop a care plan that considered the client s needs and respected client independence and choice. Interim Homestyle: Chico, California Caregiver 8/ /2009 Provided personal care and companionship for hospice care patients during their end of life. Also worked with elderly clients and clients with disabilities. Worked with clients, families, and staff to determine appropriate levels of support with respect to client wishes.
