4 Meeting Information Faculty Edward (Ted) Parks, MD, Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Orthopedic Surgeon, Western Orthopedics, PC, Denver Ted Parks is an orthopedic surgeon who has spent the past twenty years in collaboration with the ACP and the internal medicine department at the University of Colorado to develop a curriculum centered around teaching orthopedics to primary care providers. He is an annual speaker at the regional and national level for the ACP and has won numerous teaching awards. For over 15 years, he has been selected by the University of Colorado internal medicine department to teach internal medicine residents during their 1-month orthopedics rotation. He has been awarded Best Doctor by U.S. News and World Report, and Top Doctor 15 years in a row by Denver s 5280 magazine. Dr. Parks graduated from Stanford with a BS and MS, and then got his medical degree at Yale. He went on to do his residency at UCLA, and did a 1-year fellowship in sports medicine with Dr. Frank Noyes in Cincinnati. Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to: Understand the pathophysiology behind the orthopedic disorders commonly seen in the clinic. Determine when to order MRIs or other special studies when evaluating orthopedic problems. Know what injection techniques are used for treatment.
