1 DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS Educating and developing students to embrace a life-long commitment to learning, self-reflection, leadership and service.

2 STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE Chalon Humanities Doheny Building 7, 1st Floor The Student Affairs Office is here to support you in all areas of student life. Student Affairs also serves as a resource for students in need of assistance, represents students interests to the university administration, oversees the student conduct and civility processes, and Title IX training and support. It is the hub for all the departments in this document and for all aspects of co-curricular life. CAMPUS MINISTRY Chalon Humanities, 1st Floor Doheny Building 7, 1st Floor Campus Ministry is here to support students from all religious backgrounds and traditions as they explore or seek to deepen their understanding of the spiritual dimensions of life. Services and programs include: Mass Retreats Christian communities in the Residence Halls Spiritual guidance Confirmation preparation 1 CAMPUS SECURITY Chalon Doheny The safety and security of the Mount community is priority for Campus Security. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Campus Security officials serve as the Mount s first responders to incidents on campus. Campus Security oversees the emergency plans for both campuses and conducts regular emergency/evacuation drills. It also provides student centered programming with a goal of giving students information needed to make responsible decisions for their personal safety. FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE Chalon Leavey Commons Doheny Building 11, 2nd Floor Because the first year at college is such a critical time, Student Affairs has designed a variety of programs to assist students with this transition, including the New Student Orientation Program and Welcome Week. The Orientation program assists entering students with their transition to Mount Saint Mary's University. Orientation includes an introduction to both academic and student life, and provides for the interaction of new students with faculty, staff, and current students.

3 SPORTS AND WELLNESS Chalon Fitness Center Doheny Building 8 1/ The Department of Sports and Wellness provides fitness and recreation programs and services which foster self-discovery, learning, engagement and an appreciation for personal wellness. Our department offers: Fitness classes Competitive sports programs Club soccer, basketball and volleyball teams Workshops and special events and activities The Fitness Centers for both campuses offer cardiovascular training equipment, heated swimming pools, basketball and tennis courts, and a variety of equipment for resistance and weight training. Through participation in our fitness and recreation programs and services, each individual will understand and appreciate the lifelong benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle. COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES Chalon Humanities, 1st Floor Doheny McIntyre Hall, 1st Floor Being a student presents many challenges. Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is here to help with these challenges by promoting balanced lifestyles, positive self-esteem, and essential life skills with an emphasis on the development of the whole person. CPS provides counseling services and psycho-educational programs for students (such as De-Stress Day), as well as responsive consultation to the college community. Counseling is available by appointment for most programs. All sessions are confidential. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES Chalon Humanities, 1st Floor Doheny Building 3, 1st Floor Optimizing student health is key to keeping up with the rigors of academic life. In addition to treating illnesses and injuries, Student Health Services will help students learn about health risks and develop positive health practices. Services include diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, physical and gynecological exams, health teaching, and consultation. Medical information is confidential. CAREER SERVICES & INTERNSHIPS Chalon Humanities Doheny Building 11, 2nd Floor Career Services provides students with an opportunity to identify their unique skills, interests, values and personality traits as they explore the world of work and internships. Individual counseling appointments are available for skills assessment, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, job search methods and assistance, and graduate school information. Programs include: Job/Internship fairs Graduate school fairs Career development workshops Alumnae panels and more 2

4 I.S.A.E. (INSTITUTE FOR STUDENT ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT) Chalon Humanities Doheny Building 7, 1st Floor ISAE is a federally funded TRIO program that provides services and opportunities designed to increase academic persistence and success. Firstgeneration, low-income and/or disabled students are eligible to apply for this prestigious program. Participants may participate in: Individualized academic planning Peer mentoring Assistance in career and life planning Leadership and career conferences Operas, musicals, and museum outings LEARNING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Chalon Humanities The Learning Assistance Program provides a network of programs and services designed to meet the academic needs of students. Services include: Basic academic skill development Peer tutoring and supplemental intervention and support Writing and analytical skill enhancement Support for students with disabilities COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Doheny Building 11, 2nd Floor Community Engagement provides service and learning opportunities with local organizations and community partners in order to foster lives of leadership and service. Community Engagement supports service-learning and volunteering. Programs include: President's Invitation to Serve Alternative Spring Break Jobs that Serve STUDENT PROGRAMMING AND COMMUTER SERVICES Chalon Humanities 200A Doheny Building 7, 1st Floor The Student Programming Office offers fun and dynamic co-curricular programs and activities with the purpose of enriching student life and encouraging student involvement on campus. Programs and services include social, cultural and intellectual events, off campus trips (Mount in the City events) and discounted ticket office. Services and programs specifically intended to meet the needs of commuter students include: Commuter Mentor Program Commuter retreat Locker sign up Faxing services Off-campus housing list 3

5 RESIDENCE LIFE Chalon Brady Doheny Hannon Residence Life is here to provide students with a comfortable living environment which will enhance their educational experience. Co-curricular opportunities include educational and social programs, game nights, weekend trips and more! Chalon room types include singles, doubles, triples and quads. Doheny offers large doubles. Resident Assistants (trained student leaders) live on each residence hall floor and are ready to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have. VETERAN SERVICES Veteran Services provides support for current and former service members as they pursue their academic, career, and personal goals at Mount Saint Mary s University. This is accomplished through education and outreach, mentoring and connecting veteran and military connected students to resources available within and outside of the university. STUDENT MEDIA Chalon Humanities The Student Media department is composed of the Athenian Weekly, and the Athenian Yearbook. The Athenian Weekly is a publication from the Student Affairs office and advertises important information and events for students at the Chalon campus. The Athenian Yearbook is an annual publication that depicts student life and major university activities from Orientation to Commencement at both campuses.

6 WOMEN S LEADERSHIP AND STUDENT INVOLVEMENT Chalon Leavey Commons Doheny Building 11, 2nd Floor The Women's Leadership and Student Involvement department offers many opportunities for leadership skill building and development in order to prepare students as leaders in their communities and careers. Students who are part of the Leadership Scholar program at Chalon or the LEAD program at Doheny have opportunities to develop their leadership potential by taking courses and participating in group service projects and other developmental experiences. Examples of Women s Leadership programs include Annual Women s Leadership Conference Leadership Boot Camp Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) that sends students to Washington D.C to attend seminars on women and public policy. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION, STUDENT ACTIVITIES COUNCIL, CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS Chalon Leavey Commons Doheny Building 11, 2nd Floor Students have the opportunity to participate in the Student Government Association (SGA), the Student Activities Council (SAC), and a variety of officially recognized clubs and organizations. SGA serves as the student government designed to work for the needs of the Mount community. SGA promotes student involvement and leadership development through educational events, community action, and social activities. SAC is a campus-wide event planning student council made up of students who consider themselves the Keepers of the Athenian Spirit. The organization sponsors various Mount traditions at each campus and host social activities for the entire community. MSMU has many distinct clubs and organizations for social, cultural, special interest and academic groups. These clubs and organizations offer a wide array of involvement opportunities and events for the student body. They work to establish an environment conducive to the academic, social, and spiritual growth of students. 5
