Supervising two professional staff members and eight graduate student assistants. Leading, mentoring and managing the overall mission and vision of the Student Engagement and Leadership Cluster and Student Activities & Involvement. Advises the Student Government Association (SGA) and Graduate Student Senate (GSS) through the student consultation shared governance model. Provide regular trainings for SGA and GSS with student leaders, including but not limited to Bylaws, Content Neutrality, Robert s Rules of Order, strategic planning, university governance, cultural competence, Title IX, and Active Bystander training. Overseeing the Student Organization Resource Center ( SORC) for undergraduate and graduate organizations and leadership development. Coordinate and train the Leadership Team of Student Engagement Directors, all Student Engagement and Leadership Cluster budget, hires, staff personnel and cluster development. Designed and implemented SGA bylaws requiring Student Government T training for all all the members of the student government association. Eliminated the amount of New RSO appeals from 20 to 3 organizations through the SGA Senate. Developed new governance processes in spring elections, which impacted voter turnout on average by an additional 10 percent. Oversaw all SGA officer payroll and GSS Assistantships, payroll, and contracts, totaling combined in excess of an estimate of $350,000. Advises and supports Way & Means Committee Allocation Process estimated
2 3.4 million dollars towards student organizations and agencies. Increased the SORC student staff from 8 to 16 operational student staff to support consistency of business, operational and event planning practices including maintenance of budget totaling in excess of $20,000. Created the constitution, by laws and advisory board to transform the SORC into an agency within the SGA. Manage the Student Activities and Involvement Internship program offering credits to ten students per year on related fields in Higher Education. Institutional Involvement: Develop and advise the student consultation policy for administrators and student governance officials. Managed on campus voting for an estimate of 450 community members with University Relations Lead student organizational leader s participation events in the Campus Climate Survey sub committee focusing on participation for the campus. Implemented the first Black Alumni Network programming for Homecoming and SoulFest Weekend. Serves as one of the liaisons on the International Risk Management Committee for the Student Affairs and Campus Life division. Assistant Director of Student Activities June 2009-August 2014 Office of Student Activities & Involvement Center Reporting structure in this position has fluctuated to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Engagement and Director of Student activities, and Associate Director of Student Activities. Supervising one professional staff members and eight graduate student assistants. Provided vision, leadership advising and overall administration for the Office of Student Activities & Involvement and provided policy, guidelines, and risk management for the SGA, GSS, cultural, advocacy, religious, arts and media registered student organizations. Supported and managed daily operations of the Student Union and sat as the Building Operations Liaison for Student Involvement. Developed and organized The International Travel Program and risk management for student leaders that have interest in cultural exchanges and/or service learning opportunities. Served as one of the advisors to the University Programming Council (UPC), which managed UMass Night Out, Homecoming Parade and Spring Concert. Developed the first Student Activities & Involvement Intern Program of 10 students per semester. Advised, planned events, and oversaw budgets for 35 cultural organizations through the cultural council advising model.
3 Negotiated and navigated over 100 small to large-scale contracts of honorariums to achieve a budget friendly pricing for student organizations. Supervised 20 First Week Crew student workers during Welcome Week with New Student Orientation. Created the first Vice-President position for the Student Government Association Formed and assisted in Student Government Association Bike Share Program Lead and established the semester long process of switching paper ballots to an online voting system for both SGA and GSS elections. Institutional Involvement: Created the first Women Mentoring Program with the SGA with faculty and staff members campus wide. Guest Lecturer for the Education 393E Legal Issues in Student Governance & Higher Education class: The Fundamentals of Student Governance Leadership Member of the Student Affairs & Life Assessment Team. Coordinated and worked with different campus departments for university wide staff initiated programs which include First Week, Homecoming, BlackOut Weekend, SoulFest Week, and Earth Day. Served on committees such as Health Council and New Student Orientation Evening Events Graduate Assistant for Greek Affairs August 2007-May 2009 Office of Fraternities and Sororities, Reported to the Director of Office of Fraternities and Sororities of the Center of Student Development Provided administrative and advisory support to 18 chapters and initiatives of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) & National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations. Supported in the areas of programming, budgeting, council management, leadership development, membership recruitment, public relations, policy interpretation and scholastic achievement. Facilitated, and advised major Greek events, including conferences, retreats, orientation programs, and awards banquets. Responsible for administrative business and event planning for all social and educational aspects of programming by MGC & NPHC communities. Assisted with Center of Student Development initiatives and programs such as BlackOut, Homecoming and Greek Week. Expanded three new chapters in NPHC (Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc) and MGC ( Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority Inc. and Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity Inc.) Increased NPHC membership from five students to a total of 60 students at the end of the assistantship Created UStep which generated over 10,000 dollars of revenue for the NPHC council. Completed the MGC constitution with the SGA to be recognized as a governing body.
4 Prince/Crampton Hall Graduate Cluster Office Staff August 2008-May 2009 Department of Housing and Residence Life Reported to the Resident Director of Prince/Crampton Hall Provided reliable information, services and resources for residents. Distributed and collected keys and temporary access cards for residents through Prince s Excel database. Administered support for the Resident Director and Assistant Residence Director which included scheduling appointments, filing paperwork, and checking residents in and out of the hall Graduate Housing Summer Intern May 2008-August 2008 Department of Housing & Residence Life Education University of Florida Gainesville, FL Reported to the Assistant Director of Graduate Students and Families Completed literature review on selected topics pertaining to adult development, nontraditional students and international students. Collected data for ACUHO-I Apartments Committee project. Assisted Associate Director with student leadership development project. Planned and implemented summer/fall staff training and Mayors Council Workshop for graduate housing. Observed operations, related projects and duties in residence hall areas, residence life and education, assignments, maintenance and custodial. Attended SEAHO conference and presented conference overview for housing staff College Readiness Liaison December July 2007 College of Education, Alliance Program University of Florida Gainesville, FL Reported to the Dean of College of Education and Director of UF Alliance Program. Developed, implemented and assisted the College Readiness 9 th Grade UF campus visits for six UF Alliance High Schools with entertainment and tours. Coordinated five twonight visits for over 1600 students. Connected students with multiple campus constituents such as admission officers, student organizations and academic advisors. Participated in the Middle Schools Initiative that extends the Alliance work to include middle school students and their families. Developed and facilitated a series of workshops for middle school students and their parents. All 10 students from the program were accepted to the University of Florida with a UF Alliance scholarship. The 10 scholarship recipients created a UF Alliance ambassador program to recruit more students from marginalized areas in the state of Florida.
