We prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to continue their education at professional and graduate schools, ultimately working to deliver exceptional care. This is a pre-accreditation status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of five years. Samford University is seeking accreditation of a new master of athletic training program from the CAATE. The program will submit an Application for Accreditation including a Self-Study and on-site visit. Submission of this document and completing the site visit does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation. Students who graduate prior to the program s achievement of accreditation will not be eligible to sit for the BOC examination. Effective April 29, 2015, Samford University has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone: ; accreditation@apta.org). Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation. The Samford University Respiratory Care program, BS and MS degrees, CoARC program numbers and respectively, in Birmingham, AL, hold Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care ( This status signifies that a program that has been granted an Approval of Intent has demonstrated sufficient compliance to initiate a program in accordance with the Standards through the completion and submission of an acceptable Provisional Accreditation Self Study Report (PSSR), completion of an initial on-site visit, and other documentation required by the CoARC. The conferral of Provisional Accreditation denotes a new program that has made significant progress towards meeting the Standards of Accreditation. The program will remain on Provisional Accreditation until achieving Continuing Accreditation. It is recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) toward eligibility to the Respiratory Care Credentialing Examination(s). Enrolled students completing the program under Provisional Accreditation are considered graduates of a CoARC accredited program.

8 13 Experiential Learning and Simulation Center The College of Health Sciences Experiential Learning and Simulation Center spans 22,000 square feet and offers discipline-specific and interdisciplinary learning opportunities across the simulation continuum. Students at varying levels of experience are engaged in these facilities from working with low fidelity models and interacting with standardized patients to immersing themselves in complex high fidelity simulations. Our extensive inventory of task trainers, medium fidelity models and high fidelity human patient simulators creates optimal learning environments designed to improve technical skills, clinical judgment, decision making, communication and teamwork. The center s High Fidelity Simulation Suite is comprised of five rooms equipped with different health care manikins that allows simulations of complex health care situations. The suite includes individual observation rooms and conference rooms designated for debriefing.
