1 Jeff Mullins (Lee University, Head Athletic Trainer) Lee University Preceptors Jeff Mullins has served as the Head Athletic Trainer since August 2003, and took over the role of Director of Sports Medicine in the spring of Entering his 13th year at Lee, Jeff s primary sport is women s soccer. He has previously been in charge of baseball, men s basketball, men s soccer, as well as women s soccer. Prior to coming to Lee he was the athletic trainer for Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, TN and is in his 15th year as a certified athletic trainer. Jeff received his Master of Arts in Sports Medicine Healthcare and his Bachelors of Science degree in athletic training from The University of Alabama. While at The University of Alabama he worked two years with the football team and swimming and diving team. He also helped with numerous other events at Alabama. During the 2001 summer training camp, Mullins served as an intern for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. Prior to his time at The University of Alabama, Jeff was a member and elected captain of the Lee University baseball team. He has also was presented with the Athlete s Choice Award in 2012 at Lee University and received the Southern States Athletic Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2007.
2 Alex Grell (Lee University Assistant Athletic Trainer) Alex Grell began working as an assistant athletic trainer at Lee University in She primarily works with the volleyball and softball teams. Before coming to Lee, Alex spent the 2013 season working in the WNBA as the head athletic trainer for the Tulsa Shock. She received her Master of Arts in Education in 2013 from the University of Tulsa, where she worked as the athletic trainer for the volleyball and men s and women s tennis teams. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training in 2011 from Coe College, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Alex is originally from Omaha, Nebraska. Alex is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association, and Tennessee Athletic Trainers Association. Kathleen Kerecman (Lee University Assistant Athletic Trainer) Kathleen Kerecman began working as an assistant athletic trainer at Lee University in the fall of Her primary sports are women s basketball and track. Prior to working at Lee, Kathleen was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at West Virginia University, providing athletic training services for WVU club sport and intramurals. Kathleen earned her Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from West Virginia University in She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training at Kent State University. Kathleen is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.
3 Kathleen is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association, and Tennessee Athletic Trainers Association. In addition to being a certified athletic trainer and CPR/First Aid/ AED certified, Kathleen is a certified EMT-B in the state of Ohio and is Graston Technique M1 Certified. Daniel Heinbaugh (Lee University Assistant Athletic Trainer) Daniel Heinbaugh joins the Sports Medicine staff at Lee University this year after ahaving served as a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University for two years. Heinbaugh received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from West Virginia University and worked with women's soccer, football and men's basketball as well as working the Bob Huggins Basketball Summer Camp. Heinbaugh is a certified athletic trainer and will work primarily with coach Paul Furey and the men's soccer team and coach Mark Brew and the baseball team. Shelby Fankhauser (Lee University graduate assistant Athletic Trainer)
4 Shelby Fankhauser will join the Sports Medicine staff at Lee University this fall as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Fankhauser completed an internship at Wheeling Jesuit University last year working with women's soccer and men's and women's cross country and track and field. She is originally from Wheeling, W.V. and completed her bachelor's degree in athletic training from West Virginia University in This season Fankhauser will work primarily with Bubba Smith and the men's basketball program and Patric Hynes and the men's and women's tennis squads. Rachel Cox (Lee University graduate assistant Athletic Trainer) Rachel Cox join the Sports Medicine staff at Lee University in the fall of 2017 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Following graduation from Lee University in 2015 Cox worked as a personal trainer at Gold s gym while pursuing her athletic training certification. In 2016 Cox took a year off from Gold s gym and worked some of our summer camps at Lee. Currently Cox will be obtaining her Master s degree in education while serving as a graduate assistant. This season Cox will work primarily with Addie Wadley and the women s lacrosse program. She is originally from Lexington, KY. and completed her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Lee University in 2015.
5 Dr. DeWayne Knight (Lee University Team Physician) Dr. DeWayne Knight has been at Lee University working within the athletic department and the athletic training education program since before Prior to that, while in private emergency medicine practice, he worked part time as a campus physician and team physician. He s been an active part of the newly accredited athletic training education program since that time, teaching as faculty in the department of health science. With his background in family and emergency medicine and credentials in sports medicine as a certified athletic trainer, he is a central part of the sports medicine team. His educational background includes undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from lee college as well a doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed a residency in family medicine through the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He continues to be certified in sports medicine through the American academy of family practice and National association of athletic trainers. He has presented academic papers at both the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association and the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Association. He was also awarded the Charles W. Conn Service Award and in 2015 he was inducted into the Lee University Hall of Fame for his contribution to Athletics in Lee University. Ann Minter (Lee University health clinic registered nurse)

Ann enjoys teaching and appreciates the opportunity to be a preceptor. Jan Wright (Lee University health clinic registered nurse) Jan J.
