3 Section 1: Program Abstract 1.1 Abstract The four-year Honours Journalism program at Humber s Lakeshore campus is a comprehensive honours degree program that prepares graduates for in-depth work as a journalist in a multiplatform digital environment. The program is firmly grounded in the traditional journalistic skills of writing, research, analysis, ethical and critical thought and encourages learners to apply those skills to social, political, economic and conceptual issues. This program focuses on the theory and application of journalism s core knowledge and skills in a digital environment exploring in-depth the ways in which text, audio, video and images are used in online contexts on the internet and multiplatform applications. Graduates of this program can look forward to entry careers as journalists, copywriters, media relations managers, reporters, associate editors, communications specialists and advisors, research assistants as well as a variety of positions relating to digital media production. The program also includes a 420 hour work term in journalism and digital communications settings. Honours Journalism Consent Renewal 1-1 Section 1: Abstract
