This collaborative conference brought educators and community members together to engage in dialogue about the ways in which privilege impacts education and research Teaching Socio-Environmental Synthesis with Case Studies. National Socio- Environmental Synthesis Center. University of Maryland. This fully funded and competitively selected four-day training introduced participants to socio-environmental synthesis research, trained us in creating and integrating case studies into the classroom, and required the formation of teams to write original case studies. My team's case study is available at: The Art at the Heart of Learner-Centered Teaching. American Sociological Association Section on Teaching and Learning in Sociology. Denver, Colorado. This full day ASA pre-conference offers a collaborative forum to discuss innovative and effective pedagogy and research Engaged Faculty Institute: Service Learning 101. Campus Compact of the Mountain West. Denver, Colorado. This fully-funded and competitively selected 8-week training program introduced faculty and instructors to student-centered, experiential education that enhances our students' learning while addressing community needs. I was the sole graduate student among 35 participants Peak to Peak: Integrating Sustainability across the Curriculum. Environmental Center. This fully-funded and competitively selected three-day training program introduced instructors to sustainability-centered education that enhances UCB s environmental mission while creating the next generation of earth-literate leaders among our students Partnerships in Civic Engagement Activities and The Scholarship of Engagement and Community-Based Research. Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement. These workshops, led by Dr. Robert Bringle, supported faculty s integration of civic education into the curriculum, with tools to work collaboratively with local partners and instruments for assessment. 6 2011 GLBTQ Ally Development and Safe Zone Training. GLBTQ Resource Center. This interactive training helped participants develop the resources to support gender and sexual minorities in the classroom and taught attendees the specific LGBTQ policies and services at 2010 Integrating Critical Reflection and Assessment and Reciprocal Partnerships in Service Learning. Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement. These workshops, led by Patti Clayton, taught participants how to facilitate deeper learning through critical reflection as well as create transformative and synergistic partnerships with local partners.
