4 1 INTRODUCTION AND INTERPRETATION 1.1 Introduction These Program Regulations apply to all students enrolled in the Master of Architecture Award at The University of Notre Dame Australia. These Regulations should be read in conjunction with the University s General Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 1.2 Interpretation The terms included in these Regulations have the meanings as defined in the University s General Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 1.3 Amendments made to Program Regulations Unless otherwise specified, when amendments are made to the structure, content or academic requirements of this Award, the amendments will automatically apply in accordance with General Regulation Section Applicability to Campuses of the University This Award is available on the Fremantle Campus. 1.5 The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) The Master of Architecture (Extended) Award is a Level 9 AQF qualification. The Master of Architecture Award is a Level 9 AQF qualification. Master of Architecture PAGE 4

5 2 ENTRY CRITERIA 2.1 General Criteria The standard entry requirements for admission are detailed in the University s General Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 2.2 Additional Entry Requirements / Pre-Requisites The following entry requirements apply to this Award: Applicants seeking entry into Master of Architecture (Extended), Program Code 5151 must have a bachelor level degree or equivalent. The application process, for the limited places available, will include an interview which may involve a portfolio of work and an entry assessment task. Successful applicants will be offered a place in the program conditional on completion of the preparatory Architecture workshop Architectural Principles and Strategies. This preparatory workshop may be waived for applicants who demonstrate, through their portfolios, the knowledge and skills necessary for entry to the program Applicants seeking entry into Master of Architecture, Program Code 5152 must have a recognised Australian or international bachelor level degree in Architecture or equivalent. The application process will include an interview based on a portfolio of bachelor level work and may also include relevant professional work. 2.3 External Accreditation Requirements External accreditation requirements are applicable to this Award. The Architectural accreditation process is administered nationally by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) and program accreditation is approved by the Architects Board of WA. 6 3 AWARD REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Structure For the Master of Architecture Award Structure, refer to Appendix A and B Compulsory Courses See Appendix A and B Elective Courses There are no electives available in this Award Majors and Double Majors There are no Majors available in this Award Minors There are no Minors available in this Award Specialisations There are no Specialisations permitted in this Award Special Interest Courses There are no Special Interests courses available in this Award. 3.2 Special Award Requirements There are no special award requirements in this Award. 3.3 Practicum or Internship requirements Students are to complete four (4) practicum courses. ARCH6003 Technology in Practice A ARCH6004 Technology in Practice B ARCH6008 Professional Practice Practicum ARCH6011 Practice Management Practicum Architectural Placement (compulsory graduation requirement to be completed in the final year of study. 3.4 Approved course substitutions Course substitutions, where permitted, must be approved by the Dean. 3.5 Alternative Pathways An Alternative Pathways is not available for this Award. 3.6 Volume of Learning Standard Duration (a) The standard duration for Master of Architecture (Extended), Program Code 5151 is 3 years of equivalent full-time study. The standard duration for Master of Architecture, Program Code 5152 is 2 years of equivalent fulltime study. (b) A student is able to enrol in this Award on a part-time basis Accelerated Duration An accelerated mode is not available for this Award Maximum Duration The maximum period of time within which a student is permitted to complete the Master of Architecture Award is detailed in the University s General Regulations. 7 3.7 Graduation Where a student has satisfied all the requirements of this Award as detailed in these Program Regulations and the General Regulations, the University may grant the student graduation status. 3.8 Exit Awards An Exit Award pathway is not available for this Award. 3.9 Honours The Master of Architecture Award is not offered with Honours Advanced Standing and Recognition of Prior Learning Advanced standing and/or recognition of prior learning may be available towards this Award by application to the Dean, or delegate, and in accordance with the University s General Regulations.
