1 CSIR- IHBT SHORTLISTING CRITERIA: An applicant must fulfill the criteria listed in the table below in order to be eligible for appearing in the interview. S.N. Criteria Applicable to 1. Master s Degree in Science and a valid National Level Fellowship NET-JRF/SRF of various funding agencies (UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/BINC/INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships) for Ph.D. programme at CSIR-IHBT 2. Agriculture Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Microbial Biotechnology/ Fermentation Technology/ Bioinformatics/ Botany/ Entomology/ Forestry and Environmental Sciences/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ Floriculture/ Genetics and Plant Breeding/ Microbiology/ Industrial Microbiology/ Medical Microbiology/ Molecular Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Plant Molecular Biology/ Nanotechnology/ Nano biosciences/ Plant Pathology/Plant Physiology/ Pharmaceutical sciences (Pharmacology & Pharmacology and Toxicology)/ Zoology/ Human Genetics/ Virology/ Statistics (for Ph.D. in Bioinformatics) B.E. / B.Tech. / M.Tech. in Bioinformatics/ Computer Science (for Ph.D. in Bioinformatics)/ Biotechnology /Food Science with valid National or other equivalent Fellowships are also eligible. B.E. / B.Tech. / M.Tech. students are not eligible unless they have fellowships as indicated above. 3. CSIR Scientists recruited 2009 onwards//existing Research Fellows/Projects Assistants (working at CSIR labs for a minimum period of two years and having at least one paper in international peer reviewed ISI indexed journals OR (i) NET or (ii) GATE qualified) who fulfil the academic qualifications are also eligible to apply

5 Instructions/information for Short-listed Candidates: 1. Candidates must bring the signed copy of the Online Application and Proof of eligibility which are mandatory for appearing in the interview. (2 sets) 2. No TA/DA shall be paid to the shortlisted candidates for attending the interview and they will have to make their own arrangement for accommodation. 3. INSPIRE fellowship qualified candidates (Sr. # 33 to Sr. # 38) must have the provisional offer letter/ certificate issued in their favor by Department of Science and Technology (DST). 4. Candidates who have applied with JRF/SRF fellowship (Sr. # 39 to Sr. # 47) must have a valid and tenable fellowship. 5. Project Assistants who have been shortlisted/ provisionally shortlisted (Sr. # 31 and Sr. # 32 & Sr. # 48 to Sr. # 50) must produce a certificate issued in their favor by their concerned Project Incharge declaring a minimum residency of 2 years at CSIR- IHBT in case of his/ her student & a copy of paper/ publication published in SCI journal at the time of interview. 6. Candidates who have applied under the category of Industry Sponsored Candidates (Sr. # 31, 32 and 51) needs to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent Institute/ Organization specifying that the Institute/ Organization has no objection to his/ her applying for the PhD program with CSIR- Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur at the time of interview. 7. Candidates must confirm their attending the interview by sending a Statement of Purpose (SOP) by to coordinator.ihbt@acsir.res.in. 8. Any applicant who fulfills the short-listing criteria mentioned above but his/her name does not appear in the list of short-listed candidates for interview may communicate to the program coordinator at the following address: coordinator.ihbt@acsir.res.in.
