2 ABOUT THE INSTITUTE Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT) was initially established as a Faculty of Technology with Kamla Nehru Institute of Science and Technology, Sultanpur in 1976 by the Kamla Nehru Memorial Trust, Sultanpur. However, in 1979, The Govt, of Utttar Pradesh took over the Faculty of Technology with a view to develop a full fledged Institute of Technology in the eastern region of the state which is known as Avadh region, The Institute was then, registered as a separate society in 1983 and renamed as Kamla Nehru Institute of 1 Technology. It is situated 4 Km. away from the city on Faizabad road on the bank of river Gomti. The campus covers an area of 94 acres. The Institute runs six B. Tech. courses in various disciplines namely Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering & Information Technology with a total intake of 374 students. Besides, it runs Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) course with an intake of 60 students. Full time M. Tech. Programmes in Power Electronics & Drives, Thermal Engg. Geo-Environment and Comp. Sc. & Engg. with each an intake of 18 are also being run. The Part Time M. Tech. courses are also being run in the disciplines of Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 10 students in each discipline to enable the serving engineers of neighbouring industrial sectors and other organizations to improve their qualifications and also to acquaint themselves in the latest technological developments. In addition the Institute provides research facilities leading to Ph.D. degrees in all the disciplines of Engineering and Applied Science and Humanities. The Institute also hosts two Programme Centres of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the Department of Civil Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering for a number of Programmes related to Civil Engineering. Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. The Institute was affiliated to Dr, Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad tilt July, It enjoyed AUTOMOUS STATUS for academic functioning under U.P. Universities Act since It held the distinction of being the first Engineering Institute which enjoyed autonomous status amongst the other Engineering Colleges/Institutions of the State, Under the framework of this academic autonomy, the Institute enjoyed the academic independence with its own Academic Council for flaming the Ordinances, Rules and Regulations and conducting examination for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

3 ALUMNI ASSOCIATI, KAMLA NEHRU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, The Institute had the Alumni Association since the inception of the Institute. Alumni Association has been regularly organizing Alumni Meet and get together where alumni get the opportunity to share their experience and thoughts. INTERNATIAL ALUMNI MEET It is proposed to organize International Alumni Meet and Two Day Workshop on "How to Stregthen Training & Placement and Industry Institute Interaction" during Oct. 05, Oct In the Workshop, the Institute will get benefitted from the experience and thoughts from the Alumni. The Felicitation Programme will also be organized to felicitate the 1988 passout batches. It is expected that large number of Alumni will participate in the Meet and the Workshop to share their ideas.
