Why Should You Attend? The topics chosen for this seminar will emphasize the importance of the office setting in the diagnosis and management of heart disease. Goals and Objectives After attending this course the participant will be able to: 1. Recognize the role of diabetes as a primary cardiovascular risk factor. 2. Develop effective treatment strategies for patients suffering from diabetes. 3. Discuss how to manage lipids in patients with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. 4. Recognize, diagnose and treat individuals with metabolic syndrome. 5. Describe various therapeutic options for adolescent patients dealing with obesity, hypertension and other hyperlipidemia. 6. Develop treatment strategies for patients suffering from hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. 7. Describe advances in electrophysiologic and interventional cardiology devices. 8. Discuss tools currently available for use in clinical practice of primary prevention of cardiovascular disease.
