4 São Paulo State is the most economically developed in Brazil, reaching 34% of Brazil s total GDP. The mid sized cities where the campuses are located offer outstanding quality of living for an unique life experience. WHY CHOOSE BRAZIL AND SÃO PAULO STATE FOR AN ACADEMIC EXCHANGE OR A COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH? Going through a special moment in its history of economic, institutional and social development, Brazil is the second largest economy in the Americas, only behind the United States, and positioned among the six largest world economies. The Brazilian economy is established in a rich and competitive market. The discoveries made in the Pre-Salt raised the country to a new oil reserve and production level, and to a position of prominence in the world. Agriculture, mining, manufacturing (automobiles, aircrafts, electrical and electronic equipment, textile/apparel, etc.), large sized trade and product distribution networks, in addition to the services sector, provide excellent growth opportunities for entrepreneurs, as well as for trained and enthusiastic professionals. Students and researchers choosing UNESP to develop their studies will find undergraduate and graduate level excellence centers, as well as relevant areas to develop globally recognized researches and active public outreach centers of major relevance.visitors will experience a rich cultural, musical and artistic environment throughout the campuses. Above all, they will be able to enjoy the warm hospitality of the Brazilian people, the natural ability to make new friends and the opportunity to become partners in the journey of transforming Brazil, in the next ten years, into one of the top five economies on the planet. Young population and ethnical/cultural diversity in São Paulo promote enrichening activities.
