2 2017 Summer Interns AL BUNNI, HASHEM My name is Hashem ALBunni. I am 19 years old from Syria, but was born and grown up in Saudi Arabia. I`m a first year medical student at Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I graduated last year from Al-Ghad high school. I was not sure if I wanted to study medicine until I registered in Premed course which gave me a brief picture about medicine and found it enjoyable. My career goals are to become a successful physician as well as participating in research field and having a firm foundation in it. I believe that this internship will teach me a lot to achieve my aims such as mastering laboratory skills and writing scientific reports, and most importantly meeting people from all over the world. I also took basic laboratory skills program (BLSP). Away from medicine, I enjoy playing sports, especially table tennis.

3 BUI, ALBERT Albert Bui is a second year medical student at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2016, he graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Pharm.D and minors in Physics and Chemistry. He has past research experiences in the fields of cardiovascular pharmacology and prostate cancer at Ohio Northern University and Johns Hopkins University respectively. As an aspiring physician-scientist, he hopes to pursue a career in academic medicine where he is responsible for taking care of patients, teaching, and conducting translational research that enhances the health of our communities. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, trying new restaurants, and rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers.

4 ELIWA, JASMINE Jasmine is a final year medical school student in Kuwait University. In addition to working on research regarding spinal cord injury, she is a very active member in Kuwait s Medical Student Association (KuMSA). Jasmine is the president of KuMSA s Publications Support Division, editorin-chief of a student-run research magazine, and managing editor of KuMSA s annual magazine. She s also in charge of a project that allocates clinical medical students to electives around the world and was awarded as the second best projects by IFMSA in While she s not having her nose in a medical textbook or working on a project or two, she is probably painting or writing.

5 QIU, EMILY My name is Emily Qiu. I was born in West Virginia, but raised in different cities, including Shanghai, Basel, and San Francisco. My global experiences have help me with interpersonal skill. I also would like to learn more about other aspects such as research, which makes this program a perfect match for me. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Integrative Biology. I'm also especially interested on the influence on technological innovation on healthcare and plan to learn more on this aspect in my future career. In my free time, I enjoy watching plays, reading, and explore new things.

6 RANA, MOHIT I am a Cleveland State University graduate with a BS in chemistry and biology. I plan on attending a Master s program with a focus on biochemistry. Thereafter, I plan on attending medical school. I am a technology enthusiast and am currently learning to program in Python.

7 SANDHU, INDERPREET SINGH I am Inderpreet Singh Sandhu from Amritsar, India. I have done my bachelors in general medicine & surgery (MBBS) from Government medical college Amritsar, India. Currently I m working on United States Medical License Exam and want to pursue my residency in Internal medicine & later fellowship in nephrology. It s my curiosity what drives me to study medicine because it s challenging in its own prospective. In my med school I worked as Student Association Vice President and I understand the importance of team work and moral conduct. After my graduation I have worked as junior resident in department of internal medicine, cardiology and nephrology to constantly improve my clinical skills. I have participated in many medical camps and other voluntary programs. In my free time I like to play badminton and chess.
