Sprott Shaw Language College invites you to join our Global Leaders 2017 Summer Program and take part in an experience you will never forget. Take the opportunity to stay with us in residence at the world-renown University of British Columbia, where you and your newly formed friends from around the world will study English together, develop leadership skills together and go on adventures together. Join Global Leaders 2017 this summer and explore what Vancouver and Canada have to offer and enjoy yourself doing it! 12 hours of English classes per week (No Classes on Rocky Week) 9 hours of English Clubs per week (No Clubs on Rocky Week) 4 Outings per week (2 Weekday, 2 Weekend) Evening and weekend games, activities & competitions. Fun & experienced SSLC staff for activities & outings A safe & comfortable learning environment 4 day/3 night tour Completion of English Studies, Global Leadership Certificate, Community Service Certificate Official TOEFL Jr Test & Score (Teen Program Only) Memory Book What is the Global Leaders Summer Camp in Vancouver? Global Leaders in Vancouver is a program designed specifically with the student in mind. Beginning in the classroom, more advanced students will work on developing valuable life skills, such as leadership development, goal-setting and English proficiency, while other students will work on developing their English skills. In the afternoons, students will take part in exciting activities and field trips and join either our Athletic or Artistic club. On the weekends, the fun and adventures continue with full-day activities on both Saturdays and Sundays. A great experience awaits everyone who participates!

2 where does the program take place? The City of Vancouver As one of the world s most famous cities, Vancouver offers a wealth of sight-seeing options and activities for anyone visiting. Whether it is enjoying the beauty around Stanley Park, taking in the sights or viewing the city from high atop Grouse, there is something for everyone to do. Home to the 2010 Winter Olympics, Vancouver is often praised as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and when you come to visit, you will surely understand why! UBC Campus Grounds & Classrooms Located just outside Vancouver, the University of British Columbia is one of Canada s most famous and recognized universities. Students participating in the Global Leaders program will be studying on campus and living in residence at UBC. In addition to the classrooms and dorms, the vast University grounds has so much to offer our Global Leaders students that they will always be busy doing something. accommodations Residence Totem Park Residence (University of British Columbia) UBC Campus 2525 W Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1W9 Facilities: Single and double occupancy rooms available Twin bed, desk, chair, bookshelves and lamp Lounge with TV and snack kitchen Laundry facilities Wired (Ethernet) Internet access ($10 1-time charge) Wireless Internet access available in the Commons Room 24 hour front desk and security service Outdoor tennis and basketball courts english lessons & clubs English Classes are approximately 12 hours of study per week and curriculum studied will be determined by both age and English ability. Whereas both groups will study the fundamental skills needed to master any language, such as listening, speaking, grammar, reading, writing and pronunciation, the more advanced students will include goal setting and will have curriculum based around leadership skills. Clubs are an opportunity for students to develop their English while practicing and learning other new skills. Students will choose to either join our athletics program or our artistic program. In each of these, the students will begin by practicing skills related to the club and then have the opportunity to put their skills into use, whether it be through competition in athletic clubs or presentations of their works in the artistic clubs.
