7 Student Exchange Programme What does the Student Exchange Programme (SEP) entail? Spend 1 or 2 semesters at an overseas partner university Do full-time study with credit transfer Pay only NUS tuition fees Partner university gives tuition fee waiver Pay own airfare, accommodation, insurance, miscellaneous expenses at partner university, books and personal expenses

8 Student Exchange Programme SEP Eligibility Be a full-time undergraduate Completed at least 2 semesters in NUS upon admission to partner university SEP not allowed in final semester (3-year course) or final year (4-year course) Have a minimum CAP of 3.0, without any grade below C in any module Have the requisite language skills where applicable

15 Language Preparation Programme Modules brief Level 1 modules (LAF1201, LAG1201, LAK1201) basic linguistic and communicative structures of the language. Level 2 modules (LAF2201, LAG2201, LAK2201) enhance students' proficiency in the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing Level 3 modules (LAF3201, LAG3201, LAK3201) development of students' ability to communicate on fairly complex topics of general interests. French/German/Korean for Academic Purposes (LAF3203, LAG3203, LAK3203) to understand longer texts, to write structured essays, and to present ideas in a logical and confident way.

16 Language Preparation Programme Will the LPP prepare me adequately for SEP? The LPP is a structured 2-year programme to prepare students to go on SEP in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland or South Korea. Students will have sufficient French/German/Korean proficiency to understand lectures, to participate in tutorials and for day to day interactions with the local people.

Being immersed in the French, German or Korean-speaking environment will help to improve one s language proficiency rapidly Numerous LPP students who have been on SEP to Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and South Korea have found the experience truly enriching

24 Commitment as LIA Awardee

25 Commitment as LIA Awardee You must complete 4 LPP modules (including French for Academic Purposes and German for Academic Purposes) before going for SEP Dropping out of FAP / GAP = Dropping out of the LPP You are advised to go for SEP in Year 3 so that you can complete the LPP according to the regular schedule If your degree programme does not allow you to do 4 modules of LPP or if you are not able to go on SEP in your Year 3, DO NOT apply for the French /German LIA Your obligation includes meeting your faculty s SEP criteria so that you can go on exchange

26 Commitment as LIA Awardee Accepting the LIA constitutes an agreement to go back to a particular university/region for exchange if you do not do so, you will have to pay the penalty amount of $3000 Accepting the French/German LIA constitutes a commitment to go on SEP to Belgium/France/Switzerland/Austria/Germany for 1 or 2 semesters in Year 3! Accepting the French LIA for INSA Lyon constitutes a commitment to go on SEP to INSA Lyon for 1 or 2 semesters in Year 3! Accepting the German LIA constitutes a commitment to go on SEP to a partner university in Baden-Wuerttemberg/Germanspeaking region for 1 or 2 semesters in Year 3! You will have to list your area of study and your proposed university for SEP when applying for the LIA choosing a LIA is tied to choosing an SEP destination To go on SEP in Year 3 Sem 1 or 2, please apply at the end of 2014
