It is based on decades of experience in language training and is continually being developed to match the needs of a changing world. The emphasis is on direct communication through speaking. 16 Test Preparation Courses TESTS Academic Preparation The TESTS Preparation Course is a full-time intensive English course for students who need a high score on any English test such as TOEFL ibt, Cambridge FCE or CAE, general IELTS, or simply want to improve their English language skills in very structured and dynamic lessons. This course will improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Students will be well-prepared as the TESTS course includes multiple tests, exercises, tips, advice and a breakdown of each section of each test. Optional: Upgrade to the super intensive course and take the TOEFL electives, FCE electives or CAE electives to focus specifically on one of these tests. You will have extra time to study and practice for the exam you need. Messages from our teachers The University Preparation Course has been designed with the aim of enabling English as Second Language students to succeed in the competitive environment of post-secondary institutions in North America. The course provides development for students in key critical thinking and analytic skills as well as creative processes necessary to excel in academics. 20 Accommodation Homestay families At a Homestay, students live, eat, and socialize with Canadians in a comfortable environment. We work with professional companies dedicated to arranging the best accommodation for students in Vancouver. These companies have a large selection of families available in Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Burnaby. All municipalities are located within 45 minutes of downtown Vancouver. Full board (3 meals), half board (2 meals), single rooms and shared rooms for couples are all possible in homestay. Student Houses Shared rooms in student houses / dormitories located in North Burnaby and Vancouver, in zone 1 bus fare, about 35 minutes away from downtown Vancouver. This is a good option for independent students who want to live with other international students, know how to cook, understand the rules and limitations of sharing a space with others and are over 19 years old. Our student houses accommodate 10 to 20 international students, and is a good alternative if you are independent, happy and fun. 19 Suites Private rooms or shared rooms in houses are also available. Our suites are carefully selected by our accommodation coordinators to ensure a good location, within 45 minutes of downtown Vancouver, and a clean and safe living environment. This option is ideal for the student who would like to prepare their own meals and have minimal contact with their host family. It will give you more privacy and freedom than homestay. Students live in a separate suite, independent from the host family, and share the suite with other students. Normally there is a separate entrance to their suite. Suites have their own kitchen, bathroom and common area, shared among students. Student Suites are for students 19 years or older.
