1 Sandy Hill Community Centre Spring and Summer Programs 250 Somerset East This busy facility offers a wide range of affordable recreational programs in both official languages. Within this fully accessible building you will find meeting rooms, a main hall (banquet capacity 140), fully equipped boardroom, three public access computers and much more. In the adjoining award winning park, you will find multiple play structures, a wading pool and a seasonal outdoor rink. We also have three tennis courts across from the park. Customer Service Desk The customer service desk offers information and registration services. Free parking is located at the rear of the building off Sweetland Avenue. By OC Transpo We are a short five minute walk from the University of Ottawa transit station and the #16 stops in front of the building. Room Rentals If you are looking for a meeting room or a large hall for that special event, we have the perfect space for you. Our rates are very economical. We are fully accessible, close to public transit and have free parking at the rear of the building. Be it our well appointed boardroom, mirrored conference room, preschool room opening onto the patio, games room with large windows onto the park or our main hall with DJ booth and light system, we have the room for you. 2 How to Register Choose the method that s most convenient for you! Online: direct your browser to ottawa.ca/recreationguide and click on the Register button to view programs and to sign up for a course. You can register online for any course that has a program code. Please have your credit card number and expiry date ready (Visa/MasterCard). You will need your Family PIN number and Client Barcode(s). Receipts will be available upon request. If you require either Client Barcode(s) or Family PIN numbers, please call , Monday to Friday, 7 am - 7 pm (with the exception of statutory holidays) and follow the prompts. In person: at the Sandy Hill or Routhier Community Centres, Lowertown Pool or Champagne Fitness Centre during normal operating hours to register for your course. Registration must be done in person for courses without a program code. In person registration is also accepted at City of Ottawa Client Service Centres. Payments accepted by cash, cheque (made payable to the City of Ottawa), debit or credit card (Visa/MasterCard). Withdrawals/Refunds Visit your local recreation facility or any City of Ottawa Client Service Centre to withdraw from a program. If you would like a refund*, you must fill out and submit a Refund Request Form. No processing fee will be charged if the refund is credited to your account. A $25 processing fee will be charged for refunds by cheque or credit card. Refunds will be issued within 21 days of the receipt of the Refund Request Form. * If more than 50% of the course/membership has elapsed, no refund or credit on account will be offered. There are no refunds or credits for private lessons. For admission and goods purchases, refunds will be processed at the Facility with proof of purchase. Summer Camps Are you ready for an unforgettable and magical summer experience? If so, then come join us at the Sandy Hill Community Centre. Our participants will enjoy active games, unique crafts, special theme days, weekly outings and much more. If you re looking for a sports camp, we offer incredible specialty camps such as ball hockey at the arena, soccer and tennis. These camps offer skills and drills and focus on helping participants gain experience and confidence in their sport. Before care is from 7:30 am 9:00 am, after care is from 4:00 pm 5:30 pm (included in the cost) unless otherwise stated. Summer Fun Camp Children can explore their creativity through amazing theme days, unique out trips, and a fun environment. They will have the opportunity to create original crafts and participate in high energy games. To complete the summer camp experience, there will be an optional fun lunch at the end of the week. On rain days we visit McNabb indoor park, Fun Junction, see a movie or another awesome activity! Helmet, elbow, and kneepads are mandatory. Ages 8-13 yrs. Mon-Fri Jul 9-13 $ Mon-Fri Aug $ Top of The World Ultimate Skate Camp It is a dynamic skateboard camp taught by an experienced team. This camp is for experienced skateboarders (3 plus years experienced or approval from instructors). We visit skateboard parks throughout the City and a major skateboard park in Montreal. On rain days we visit McNabb indoor park, Fun Junction, see a movie or another awesome activity! Helmet, elbow, and kneepads are mandatory. Ages 10-14yrs. Skateboard camps are travelling camps, visiting various skate parks each day. Pre and post care 8-9 and 4-5 only. Ultimate camps go to a Montreal indoor Skate Park. Join us at the Sandy Hill arena and we ll provide you with a taste of what it s like to be a professional hockey player. For those with more advanced skills come brush up on handling, passing and shooting. Bring a helmet, hockey stick, good running shoe, lunch and two snacks. Ages 7-13 yrs. It is a wonderful opportunity to get exercise, improve coordination and have fun while learning the fundamental movements and technique of dance. While ballet attire and shoes are preferred, they are not required; comfortable, form-fitting clothing and soft-slippers are also acceptable. 7 Beginner 1 (Formerly Level 1) - This course is designed for people with no or little knowledge of Spanish. At the end of the course, the participant will be able to introduce him or herself to someone else, inquire or give information about a location, a person or a thing.
