3 2018 Crescenta Valley High School Senior Class Motto Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we ve been waiting for. We are the change we seek. -Barack Obama Seniors: As graduation approaches at Crescenta Valley High School, your ASB and your Senior Officers have planned several activities for your enjoyment and to celebrate your final weeks at CV. It is our hope that all seniors are able to attend and take part in these activities. These weeks can and should be the best time of the year for seniors. This bulletin is provided to help with information and deadlines. Please be aware of the following: Be prompt, ready and prepared for all activities. Be aware of ticket deadlines as they will be strictly enforced. Violations of the Standards of Student Conduct from now until the end of the school year can result in your exclusion from senior activities including graduation. Use of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated. A breathalyzer to measure alcohol may be at every school function and may be used at random or as needed. No smoking or vaping of any kind is allowed at any school function on or off campus. Please read this entire bulletin. It contains information regarding: 1. Cap and Gown Distribution 5. Senior Reflections Night 2. Senior Awards Night 6. Graduation and Diploma Distribution 3. Senior Prom Policies and Dates 7. Grad Nite 2018 at Disney California Adventure 4. Other Dates 8. Senior Prom Policies and FAQs These activities have been planned by your senior officers. Please enjoy the last months of your senior year. Remember to be kind and courteous and act responsibly at all events. Stay classy Falcon Family, now s the time to make good memories. What follows are short descriptions and frequently asked questions about selected upcoming senior events. 3

4 CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTIONS & MANDATORY SENIOR MEETING WHEN: Tuesday, Banking Day - May 22 8:00 AM WHERE: CVHS MacDonald Auditorium A mandatory senior class meeting, as well as cap and gown distribution will take place Tuesday, May 22nd at 8:00 a.m. in the auditorium. Seniors who have purchased cap and gowns can pick them up in the auditorium lobby prior to the senior meeting. Please take care of your gown and try to keep it clean and wrinkle free. A cool iron may be used to remove wrinkles. Graduation Announcements Purchased graduation announcements will be distributed by the first week of May. Announcements should be mailed out approximately one month before graduation. SENIOR AWARDS PROGRAM WHEN: Thursday, May 24 th at 7:00 pm WHERE: CVHS MacDonald Auditorium DRESS: Cap and Gown Rehearsal for the Senior Awards program will be Wednesday, May 24 at 1pm. All participants/award winners report to the auditorium that evening at 6:45 p.m. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. All seniors and their families are encouraged to attend. Senior Awards is also the perfect time to take photos in your cap and gown at CVHS with your friends and family. DEADLINE: You must notify Mrs. Mulvoy in the administration office of any awards, scholarships or college acceptance information you would like recognized at Senior Awards Night by Wednesday, May 9 th at 3pm. Thank you cards for any scholarships must be done by Tuesday, May 22. SENIOR PROM WHEN: Saturday, May 19 at the Belasco Theater, Los Angeles. Senior Prom policies, dates, deadlines and FAQ s are on the last page of this bulletin. OTHER IMPORTANT REMINDERS In order to be eligible for graduation, a senior must maintain acceptable citizenship. This includes payment of all debts and fines, lost book fees, and other school obligations. ALL SENIOR DEBTS AND FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS MUST BE CLEARED BY 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, or a diploma will not be issued graduation evening. Textbooks due and clearances through AP Office will be by 1:00 p.m. June 5 th. Senior Final Exams, as follows: Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1: All teachers give final exams to seniors over these two days for periods 0, 1 and 6. (Regular Schedule) Monday, June 4: Final exams for all students 9, 10, 11, 12 for Periods 2 and 3. Tuesday, June 5: Final exams for grades 9, 10, 11, 12 for Periods 4 and 5. Wednesday, June 6: Final exams for grades 9, 10 and 11 for Periods 1 and 6. The Counseling Office will notify seniors who are not academically qualified and cleared for graduation by the evening of June 5,

5 SENIOR REFLECTIONS - Sponsored by our CVHS PTSA WHEN: WHERE: DRESS: Sunday, June 3 rd, 4:00 p.m. Mac Donald Auditorium, Crescenta Valley High School Cap and Gown. Seniors line up at 3:40 p.m. Seniors and families are invited to attend this special program honoring the senior class. Future insight is provided by a guest CVHS faculty speaker selected by the senior class. Senior officers will also present some final thoughts. The PTSA will host a reception in front of the Auditorium following the service. Reflections provides seniors the opportunity to think about the past and dream about the future. Reflections is also perfect time to take photos in your cap and gown here at CVHS with your friends and family. Attendance is voluntary. GRADUATION: WHEN: Wednesday, June 6, 2018 REHEARSAL: Begin in Main Gym June 6 11:00 a.m. This rehearsal is mandatory for all seniors attending graduation. CEREMONY LOCATION: Osborne Field, Crescenta Valley High School Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. WHERE/TIME: Graduation begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. PARTICIPATION: Only those seniors completing the prescribed requirements for a diploma will take part in the ceremony. TICKETS/ADMISSION: Seniors will receive five (5) free tickets for admission to the graduation ceremony at graduation rehearsal. All guests attending graduation age 3 and over will need a ticket to enter. A maximum of six (6) additional tickets per graduate can be purchased for $12 each from the student store. Extra ticket sale dates will be announced in the bulletin. DIPLOMA: During graduation, you will receive an empty diploma jacket while crossing the stage. Your actual diploma will be issued immediately after the ceremony by your counselor in the gym. Diplomas WILL NOT BE ISSUED to students who owe textbooks, owe detention, or have outstanding debts at the library, student store, or any other department or to students identified as disruptive during the graduation ceremony. PICTURES: Plan to have all the appropriate pictures taken before or after the graduation ceremony. No one will be permitted on the field to take close-up personal pictures during the ceremony. Bronson Studio will have platform photos available for purchase at 5

6 GRADNITE CELEBRATION California Adventure Exclusive Senior Party Tuesday, June 5, 7:00 pm departure, Exclusive Senior Party at California Adventure 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, returning to CV approximately 3:30 am (Wednesday, June 6) Who can attend Grad Nite? If you are a graduating senior you may go stag. A graduating senior bringing a guest, your guest can be a student from another high school, or a person who no longer attends high school. Non-CV guests must go through a guest approval process. Guest approval forms are available in the Assistant Principals Office. Allow several days to process. WHO CANNOT ATTEND GRAD NITE? Middle school students or anyone age 21 or over and non-senior CV/GUSD STUDENTS. TICKETS: CASH or CREDIT CARD at the STUDENT STORE ONLY Credit Card on line. Tickets are non-transferable, and non-refundable after April 13. A receipt will be given at the time of purchase. You will receive your ticket and wristband when on the bus. Bring your receipt and ID. CVHS ID and /or Valid California Driver s License. Bring both! Guests must provide proper ID. Grad Nite 2018 tickets include entry and an Exclusive Senior Private party from 9:00pm at Disney California Adventure Park. Enjoy complimentary Park Hopping privileges between Disneyland and California Adventure Parks during regular operating hours. If you own a Disneyland season pass, it will get you in, but you cannot attend the exclusive Senior Party, and must exit the parks at regular closing time. You will not go on CV buses. Disney California Adventure Grad Nite tickets on sale March 1 Credit Card or Cash March 1 March 16 Seniors only: $95 with ASB and $105 without ASB. (Student Store or Online Store) March 27 - Seniors with ASB $105, without ASB and Non CV Student Guest $115. Guest passes can be purchased at the Student Store only. Tickets available until sold out or the final day to purchase tickets is April Tickets available. Guest passes available March 1 in the Assistant Principal s Office due by Friday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. All Students purchasing tickets with GUEST PASS MUST buy tickets at the Student Store. Guest Pass tickets cannot be purchased until March 27. Price includes bus transportation to and from Disneyland California Adventure. DRESS: Rules for dress that evening, and things to leave at home will be provided on a sheet at the time of ticket purchase. It is strongly suggested that all students follow the CV dress code policy. REGULATIONS: Everyone travels on the bus. NO PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION. Bus loading will be on Community Avenue. Buses return to CVHS approximately 3:30 am Wednesday morning (June 6). Information on buses will be available at time of ticket purchase. Drug sniffing dogs will inspect all students and their possessions prior to loading buses. FROM GRADNITE, RETURNING TO CV: PLEASE RESPECT THE TIME EVERYONE IS SUPPOSED TO RETURN TO THE BUS. ONCE EVERYONE IS ABOARD, YOU WILL LEAVE THE PARK TO COME HOME. YOUR BUS DOES NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OTHER BUSES. 6

7 2018 Senior Prom Policy & FAQs SENIOR PROM: Theme Around The World WHEN: Saturday, May 19, :00-11:00 pm at the Belasco Theater, Los Angeles COST: Single: ASB card: $100 - NO ASB/Non CVHS Student/Guest: $120 April 10 - April 27 Beginning April 30 - May 10, -- $115 with ASB - $130 NO ASB/Guest Pass. TICKET SALES: CASH AND CREDIT IN STUDENT STORE - CREDIT CARD ALSO ACCEPTED ONLINE! Directions: The Belasco Theater, 1050 S Hill St, Los Angeles, CA Parking/Limo Drop: Suggestion - Joe s Auto Parks, 1002 S. Hill St, $10. Limo Drop in front of Belasco Theater There are other Parking lots surrounding Belasco. Except Joe s, most are valet only. (Prom, Buffet dinner, unlimited soft drinks, dessert buffet, and Prom Plus are included in the price) Dinner buffet service time: 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. Dessert buffet service time: 8:30 p.m. 10:00 p.m. No tickets will be sold after Thursday May 10. Students bringing a NON CV GUEST must purchase both tickets at Student Store. No tickets will be sold at the door. Students cannot depart Prom until 10:00 PM GUEST PASSES ARE DUE IN THE ASST. PRINCIPAL S OFFICE, LUNCH Thursday, May 3. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADMITTED INTO THE EVENT AFTER 9:00 PM! NO Departures until 10:00 PM BRING YOUR ID PHOTO INFORMATION: Formal Photos and Photo Booth DRESS: Formal Attire GUESTS: A guest may be any CVHS student, a student from another school, or a person who no longer attends high school. Non-CV guests must go through the guest approval process. Forms are available in the Assistant Principals Office. Allow 3 days to process. NO MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO ATTEND THE DANCE AND NO ONE AS A GUEST CAN BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. You are responsible for the behavior of your guest. Purchasing your Dance ticket(s) is your acceptance that you are promising not to use drugs or alcohol before coming to or during any school activity. You may also be subject to a breath analyzer test. All persons in attendance at the dance are required to maintain modest semi-formal attire at all times. No refunds given to persons refused entry due to dress code violations. All persons are also required to maintain appropriate behavior on and off the dance floor. When bringing a guest to any school activity, you are responsible for his/her behavior. Attendance of any school activity, during and/or after school hours, under the influence of drugs/alcohol or found responsible for damage to property at Crescenta Valley, its staff, its students, and/or the venue, you will be suspended from school, face removal from any co-curricular activity. You may also be denied the right to attend school functions for the remainder of the semester or school year. You may also be required to make restitution for damages. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Tickets sold to CVHS students only. Students must present valid CVHS identification at time of purchase. No students will be allowed into the Dance without presenting identification. Should the date be from another school, he/she must present a valid school picture ID and/or valid California ID. Any changes in information above must be done prior to the dance during school hours. Refund request must be made in writing prior to the dance using the parent/guardians name and address. Refund checks will be issued and mailed to parent/guardian. NO REFUNDS AFTER MAY 11. At the Prom: Pat down and Dance Policy in effect. Don t bring lanyards, gum, perfume, pens, markers, lighters, etc. They will be taken, and not returned Coat check bags will be available. Think ahead about bringing Electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, PDA s). CVHS and Event Coordinators not responsible for items taken away.
