3 REGISTRATION DAY 1: HOMEROOM Each student will receive 1 Course Catalog. The Catalog is also available online.

4 REGISTRATION DAY 1: HOMEROOM Turn to pages A1 (after page 50): Graduation Requirements Graduation at a glance Earn 24 credits Complete a High School & Beyond Plan Pass State Assessments in: English (SBA ELA) Math (SBA Math) Science (WCAS) Beginning with the class of 2021

5 REGISTRATION DAY 1: HOMEROOM Page A3: CTE Equivalencies: (aka Two-for-One Courses) Courses that begin with the codes listed in the chart can be used to meet TWO graduation requirements (though you do NOT get double credit!) For example: I want to take Photography 1 (course code listed in the Course Catalog on page 44 as ARO311). I will earn credit for both art AND occupational/cte credit.

8 REGISTRATION DAY 1: HOMEROOM Take out your Course Selection Worksheet: Write your name on it. This sheet is your FINAL copy and is due in Homeroom on Thursday, 2/28. All 7 boxes for each semester MUST be filled in (creating a FULL course load). You must also choose 6 alternates at the bottom of the page. Teacher signatures are required for any advanced or honors course. Monday, 2/25 is Teacher Signature Day and you will be expected to obtain signatures on or before that date. Student and Parent signatures are REQUIRED.

9 REGISTRATION DAY 1: HOMEROOM Current juniors (soon-to-be seniors) in the class of 2020: You need a year of English and a semester of Civics. Current sophomores (soon-to-be juniors) in the class of 2021: You need a year of English and a year of US History. Current freshman (soon-to-be sophomores) in the class of 2022: You need a year of English and a year of Contemporary World Problems. Please note: Honors and Advanced Placement levels of the classes above are available. If you failed a required course, you must re-take it in order to graduate. Some core courses are offered in Summer School or through credit recovery. Questions about PE Credit or the World Language Proficiency Assessments? See page 7 of the Course Catalog

10 IMPORTANT NOTES & TIPS Courses that students cannot sign up for during Registration: There are certain classes that students cannot sign up for during the general registration process. You should fill out your registration forms with classes you CAN sign up for. Your counselor will make adjustments to your schedule later. Peer Tutor (other than Transition) If you would like to be a Peer Tutor in the Transition classes will be able to request this during registration. Other Peer Tutoring positions will not be scheduled until the fall. Running Start You must request a full load of courses at JHS regardless of your Running Start plans. Running Start Info Sessions will be held after school on March 6th and March 7th. TA s You cannot request to be a TA until the fall. WANIC You must request a full load of courses at JHS regardless of your WANIC plans. See Ms. Phillips in the CRC ASAP to register for WANIC!! Adjustments will be made once final confirmation is given to the counselor by the WANIC Coordinator. Work Credit Students can apply for work credit in the CRC in the fall.

On Monday, 2/25 (or before), you will need to have your CURRENT teachers initial your Course Selection Sheet ONLY for the following courses: ENGLISH: Honors- or AP-level MATH: ALL levels of math SCIENCE: AP level SOCIAL STUDIES: AP level WORLD LANGUAGE: ALL levels except for year 1 RESOURCE: ALL
