1 RIVERSIDE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING August 30, 2012 The Regular Meeting of the Riverside Township Board of Education was held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., in the Board Conference Room. Present were: Absent were: J. D Agostino, D. Graf, B. Knaub, T. McElroy J. Mongon, D. Potts, D. Reale, J. Lennon and R. Ehrich J. DiMiero, M. DiMiero, and R. Russell Mrs. Graf led the flag salute. Mrs. Lennon announced that adequate notice of the meeting had been given to the public by notifying the Burlington County Times and the Courier Post on June 25, 2012 and posted at the Riverside Town Hall. CORRESPONDENCE New Jersey School Boards Association School Board Notes July 12, 2012 New Jersey School Boards Association School Board Notes August 16, 2012 Thank you note from Brett Harris. Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the acceptance and filing of the above correspondence. GOOD NEWS Mrs. Milch reported that Freshmen Orientation was held last night. The meeting was opened to the public for agenda items only. No one spoke at this time. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the Workshop Meeting held on July 9, 2012, a Workshop Meeting held on July 11, 2012 and the Regular Board Meeting held on July 12, APPROVAL OF FINANCIAL REPORTS On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the Board Secretary's Report (June 30, 2012), the Treasurer's Report (June 30, 2012), the Cafeteria Financial Report (June 30, 2012), the Student Activity Financial Report (June 30, 2012), the Athletic Council Report (June 30, 2012), and the Budget Status Report (June 30, 2012), as presented.
2 Page 2 APPROVAL OF BILLS On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves payment of August 6, 2012 and August 30, 2012 bills as presented. BUSINESS & FINANCIAL Transfers On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Whereas, the State Department of Education permits transfers among the school district s budgetary line item accounts, And Whereas, it is the desire of the Riverside Township Board of Education to make such transfers, Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the Riverside Township Board of Education that the Board Secretary is hereby authorized to make the following budgetary account line item transfers: July 2012 FROM TO AMOUNT $ August 2012 FROM TO AMOUNT $56, , , Substitutes On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Potts and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following substitutes from Source4Teachers as per attached for the school year. VOTE- Aye: J. D Agostino, D. Graf, B. Knaub, T. McElroy, J. Mongon, and D. Potts Abstain: D. Reale Fire Drill/Security Drill Reports On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mr. McElroy, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the July and August Fire Drill Reports, and the July and August Security Drill Reports, submitted by Robin A. Ehrich, Superintendent, as attached.
3 Page 3 Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves revisions to the Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement between education and law enforcement officials signed by Superintendent Robin A. Ehrich and Police Chief Paul Tursi on August 21, NCLB Fiscal Year 2013 On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the submission of the Fiscal Year 2013 NCLB grant application in the amounts listed: Title I $380,101 Title II Part A 36,473 Title III 11,231 IDEA Fiscal Year 2013 On the motion by Mrs. Graf, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the submission of the Fiscal Year 2013 IDEA application in the following amounts: IDEA $311,102 Preschool 9,391 BCIT Tuition On the motion by Mrs. Graf, seconded by Mr. McElroy, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the tuition payment of $3,000 for 34 regular education students and $3,000 for 8 special education students attending the Burlington County Institute of Technology for the school year. Transportation Contract On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be it Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby awards the transportation contract to Safety Bus Service, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, to transport homeless students for the school year, in the amount of $ per diem.
4 Page 4 NJSIAA & BBSL Memberships On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the high school s enrollment in the NJSIAA with annual dues to be $2, and the BCSL with annual dues to be $ and agrees to be governed by the Rules and Regulations of the NJSIAA and the BCSL on all approved scheduled contests for the school year. PERSONNEL Contract Rescission On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby rescinds the contract of Danielle Sulock as a part-time preschool aide for the school year. Pre-School Instructional Aide On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Dauris Jajko as a part-time preschool instructional aide for twelve hours per week at the contract rate of $19.73/hr. (80 credits) to be paid with preschool funds for the school year. Pre-School Instructional Aide On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Erika Johnson as a part-time preschool instructional aide for twelve hours per week at the contract rate of $19.57/hr. to be paid with preschool aide funds, effective September 10, Instructional Ambulatory Aides On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following Instructional Ambulatory Aides at the contract salaries listed for the , or as needed per the current IEP of the individual student:

Resignation On the motion by Mr. McElroy, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Celeste Wilden as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant for the Riverside/Delanco Child Study Team, effective September 14, LDTC Position On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mr. McElroy, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Kristin Callahan as a 10 month Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant for the school year at the contract salary of $63,349 (Step 8 MA) pro-rated from October 15, 2012.
6 Page 6 Special Education Teacher On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Meghan Draper as a HS Special Education Teacher for the school year at the contract salary of $52,672 (Step 0) pro-rated from September 10, Student Teacher On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mr. McElroy, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the placement of the following student teacher during the school year: Students College Placement Dates/Hours Katie Drexler Stockton MS Mathematics Sept. 17 Dec. 11, 2012 Internship On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mr. McElroy, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves Kellen M. Burke, La Salle University Intern, to provide a brief tutorial on Google Apps available to the English and Social Studies Departments. Staff Assignments Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the updated and revised staff assignment list, which includes staff placement changes, salaries and new employees approved to date, as attached. 8 Page 8 POLICY First Reading On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the first reading of the attached list of new and revised policies as presented. Second Reading On the motion by Mr. Potts, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the second reading of the attached list of new and revised policies as presented. STUDENTS Out of District Placements On the motion by Mr. McElroy, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following out of district student placements for the school year as attached. Home Instruction On the motion by Mrs. Graf, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following home instruction for the school year: ID# FROM TO /05/12 06/19/13 (2 hrs. per week) Fall Sports Schedules On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the Fall Sports schedules as presented.
9 Page 9 PROGRAM Curriculum On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following Outline for Constitutional Law Curriculum, aligned with the Core Curriculum Content Standards 6.1, 6.3 for the as presented. Temporary Instructional Space On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves submission of the renewal application for temporary instructional space for Room 529 for Speech Lessons and for Room 405 being used for Preschool Handicapped 3 & 4 year old classes during the school year. Dual Use of Educational Space On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Graf, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves submission of the Dual Use of Educational Space Application for Room 529 for two Speech Teachers sharing a room, Room 604 for Resource Room instruction containing two small group classes and Room 603 for BSI and Resource Room using shared space during the school year. Toilet Room Facilities for Early Intervention On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Potts, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request to utilize Room 503 as a Preschool classroom without in-room toilet facilities during the school year. FACILITIES Elementary School & Family Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from the Elementary School & Family for the school year as attached.
10 Page 10 Middle School & Family Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from the Middle School & Family, for the use of the high school cafeteria on September 12, 2012 for the purpose of Back to School Night from 5:30 pm 8:30 pm. Riverside Boosters Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from Riverside Boosters for the use of school facilities for the school year as attached. Little Green Football Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from Little Green Football for the use of the Football Field, Concession Stand and Lavatories for the Football games on the Saturdays and Sundays in September, October, and November 2012, as attached. (In case of conflict, Riverside athletic programs will have priority for use as needed.) Kick Off Club Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from Riverside High School Kick Off Club for the use of the HS Cafeteria and Lavatories for the pre season spaghetti dinner on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5:00 8:00 pm. Riverside Bulldogs Cheerleading Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from Riverside Bulldogs Cheerleading for the use of school facilities for the school year as attached. (In case of conflict, Riverside School programs will have priority for use as needed.)
11 Page 11 Portuguese School Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the request from Leonor Morais for the use of one classroom on Tuesdays, from 3:30pm - 5:30 pm and Fridays, from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm for the purpose of teaching Portuguese language and culture classes for the school year. COMMITTEE REPORTS PERSONNEL & EMPLOYEE RELATIONS No Report FINANCE & INSURANCE No Report BUILDINGS & GROUNDS Mr. Mongon reported that the committee did a walk through the building tonight and the building looks great. The committee discussed requests from the township for the public to use the track and shared use of maintenance personnel. ATHLETICS No Report POLICY Mrs. Knaub reported that the committee met on July 18, 2012 to review revised policies. The committee plans to meet quarterly in the future.
