Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. End of the Year Procedures The year is quickly coming to a close. Our students last day is on Thursday, June 27 th. They will also receive their report cards that day. Teachers will be working on planning Friday, June 28 th,. If you have any questions for the staff they can be contacted at ( ). JUST A REMINDER Please let us know in the office if you are moving or won t be attending St. Michael School in the fall. Thank you Lost and Found During the week of June 24 th we have many found items that will be set up in the hallway for students to look at. Please encourage your child to look and if you have time that week, to look yourself. Any unclaimed items will be cleaned and donated to a group that can make good use of the clothing.

2 Library Books We would like all library books returned to the library by June 5th. If you have lost a book please contact Mrs. Auger in the library to get the replacement cost. The Library will be closed on June 10 th. Happy Father's Day Staff Meeting - Early Dismissal PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR Students will be dismissed at 2:40 on Monday, June 10 th for the monthly staff meeting. Please ensure that your children are picked up in a timely fashion. Thanks for your cooperation. Inservice - Early Dismissal On June 14 th in the afternoon there will be no school for all grades due to a teacher inservice.

If you are in Grade 4 to 8 and are not participating in Track than classes as regular. SCC NEWS Over the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of reported cases of youth being exploited by their peers over the internet and/or wireless devices. When a young person s privacy suddenly goes public, the consequences can be devastating. Too many youth are dealing with online harassment it needs to stop. What s become clear is that people need a place to access information on dealing with such incidents of harassment. In the most extreme of cases, they need a place to safely report their concerns. The new website by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection can be a big help: NeedHelpNow.ca is an excellent resource that provides youth and parents with information they need. It can help parents to choose a path of action in situations of cyber bullying and harassment. Information includes how youth and parents can: recognize the warning signs of when a situation has gone too far; learn how to remove a picture/video from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media sites; establish personal boundaries; and develop problem-solving skills and manage stress. Please help get the word out about this valuable resource!

4 PARKING For the safety of all of our students please refrain from parking in front of the Albert St. and Brown St. entrances. It becomes a hazard when our students run between or around parked cars. Grade 8 - June 14th Mass - St. Joseph at 5:00 pm Supper / Presentations - 6:00 pm Heritage Dance 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm FAMILY PICNIC June 25 th at Connors Park. Students will be bused to the park from school and returned to the school. Families are welcome to attend and enjoy the St. Michael fellowship. Band News Holy Trinity Elementary Band News Congratulations to the band students on an excellent year! I am proud to present their achievements at our final concert on Sunday, June 2nd, at the Mae Wilson Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Admission is by silver collection. Please attend and bring a friend! Grade 8 Band students have been invited to join the Vanier Wind Ensemble at their final concert Sunday, June 9th, at the Mae Wilson Theatre, 7 p.m. Please make plans to attend! Students are welcome to register for the elementary band program. Current grade 6 & 7 students will receive registration forms which should be filled in and returned to the school office before the end of the year. Grade 5 students will have the opportunity to tryout band instruments in the coming weeks. Registration forms will also be sent home with the grade 5's, but the form can also be found on the Holy Trinity website, Just go to "Families", "Common Forms", and then "Band Registration Form". Print out the form, fill it in, and

5 return it to the school secretary. I look forward to starting (or continuing) your child's lifelong journey in music. MIKE S GOT TALENT The talent show will be held at the Mae Wilson theatre at 1:00 on Tuesday, June 4th. Parents are welcome to attend. Thank you to the MANY acts that tried out. Canoeing/Kayaking for grade 7 and 8 students! The grade 7 and 8 students will be going canoeing with their teachers and two other certified instructors on the Moose Jaw River. The students will enjoy instruction on proper canoeing techniques and safety. They will also participate in other educational land activities. They must bring a bag lunch, snacks and drinks. Please dress appropriately. Transportation is provided. When: Grade 7 students- June 7 Grade 8 Mrs. Wells - June 18 Mr. Fisher June 19 Where: Wakamow Valley Oval Dress: Please dress according to weather. If hot, please wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, t-shirt and shorts; or raingear, jackets, extra socks, running shoes, sweats if it is cooler. Bathing suits are not needed. Lunch: Please provide a nutritious lunch and snack for an active day. Bring you own water bottle for the canoe trip. Transportation: Bus will be leaving the school at 8:45 and returning by 2:30. 6 BOOK EXCHANGE St. Michael SCC is helping to promote literacy and summer reading to our students. They will be sponsoring a Book Exchange. Students are encouraged to bring their used books to the school on June 3, 4 and 5. They will receive a ticket, for each book, that they can redeem for another book on Friday, June 7 th. This will provide a great opportunity for our students to have new reading materials for the summer months. We would like to thank the SCC for this project. The Public Library will also be doing presentations for our Grade 1 7 classes that week. Our grade 8 classes will be touring the library and learning about all of the new programs that are available to them. IN MOTION INFO June is Recreation & Parks Month Feel the warmth of the sunlight, smell the flowers, visit the beautiful parks, and play every day! Recreation builds family unity; enhances quality of life, balanced living and lifelong learning; helps people live happier and longer; develops skills and positive self image in children and youth; develops creativity; and builds healthy bodies and positive lifestyles! For more information: The Cat Chat Vacation Bible School will be running at St. Joseph's the mornings of July 15-19th. The program is for children ages 4 to 12.
