Students adding the course will be automatically added by the registration system within 24 hours after the registration is processed. All course resources, including the textbooks and assignments can be linked to from this location. This course will be conducted as a hybrid course partially online and partially in class. It is absolutely crucial that the materials (textbook, access code) be acquired as quickly as possible. The publisher allows a 2 week grace period for you to access the course materials before you are required to input the access code. To submit the course assignments and exams, an access code will be required. The access code will be included with a new textbook. If you purchase a used textbook you will need to purchase the access code separately. Everyone will need to input the following course key to register in the class: E-24YE3G57JSXGY. The course key is different from the access code. The access code is your fee for using the course materials. The course key links you to the correct class.

2 You will only need to input these codes one time. If you do not see the assignments, you have not entered the correct course key. On the due date for the assignments, the system will close access to the assignments automatically. Therefore, you must complete the assignments BEFORE the due date and time. Late homework assignments are not accepted. Waiting until the last minute and experiencing a computer or internet malfunction is not a valid excuse for late homework. Your semester grade will be based on the total number of points accumulated during the semester as well as regular attendance in class. Regular attendance is required to earn a passing grade in this course. Three unexcused absences can result in a one-letter grade reduction in the final grade. Seven or more absences can result in a two-letter grade reduction and any student with ten or more unexcused absences is subject to an F, regardless of scores earned on exams. Three unexcused tardies are counted as one unexcused absence. A tardy is defined as arriving in class after roll has been taken and class has begun. Also note that there are in class assignments and quizzes that you cannot earn credit for if you do not attend class. In addition to the penalties outlined above, missing class will cause the loss of a large number of points. Format of the class: You will note from the class assignment schedule that each chapter is introduced prior to the class discussion of the topic. In this type of class, known as a flipped class you will first study the topic on your own, using resources (typically the online tutorials and other videos) that the instructor provides. You will prepare in advance to participate in class activities. Then, during class you will practice applying key concepts with feedback. After class, you will check your understanding and extend your learning. Classroom time is then used, not for traditional lectures, but for time for students to apply the knowledge by solving problems and doing practical work. I am there to tutor you when (or if) you get stuck. It is a very interactive way of learning and puts you, the student, in charge of your progress. I am there to assist you as much as you will allow me. To achieve success in this course you must always come to class prepared to actively participate. Please turn off all electronic devices prior to the start of class. Points will be deducted for repeated disturbances in class. You may refer to the Student Code of Conduct for any questions regarding expected conduct in class. Accounting is a serious subject and will be treated as such. Please be respectful of yourself, your colleagues and your instructor at all times. Students are welcome to talk to the instructor about any issues or concerns that might arise. Identify the ethical implications inherent in financial reporting and be able to apply strategies for addressing them.
