3 1.0 Target Group ilearn online offers the option of being your mentor throughout the course! What does this mean? As part of our entry requirements, you must have access to a mentor to supervise the 260 practicum hours. Our training team will work with you in meeting these requirements. We have a team of trainers who possess a wealth of knowledge who will take on the role of the mentor throughout your current enrolment. This course is for individuals who are interested in learning about the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and in particular, the skills and knowledge to become a qualified trainer and assessor in the industry. 4 Each prospective learner must possess a set of existing skills such as: basic computer skills - this includes typing and sending an basic skills to use their own printer and scanner - this includes using the print and scan functions basic skills to use Microsoft Office programs such as Word and PowerPoint - this includes creating and saving a new file, adding and editing text, tables, images and font the skills to use a PDF document - this includes searching for key words and scrolling through the document basic internet skills to undertake online research 2.0 Course Structure This course contains ten (10) units of competency: TAEDES401 Design and develop learning programs TAEDES402 Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs TAEDEL401 Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools TAEASS402 Assess competence TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills BSBCMM401 Make a presentation The following units are clustered in our pathway: TAEDES401 and TAEDES402 TAEDEL401, TAEDEL402 and BSBCMM401 TAEASS401 and TAEASS502 On successful completion of the assessment requirements for each unit within the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the learner will receive a certificate and record of results in accordance with the AQF certification requirements. admin@ilearnonline.com.au Web: V4 Page 4
5 3.0 Mode of Delivery (Blended) ilearn online utilises a combination of modes to deliver the training and assessment components of the course. This includes online training, self-paced study and distance-based assessing. This does not include the time required to read and comprehend the course content. We have determined the hours of assessment for the units of competency. 7 Please note: Each unit requires the learner to access an array of workplace documentation that are typically found within a training and assessment environment. For this reason, ilearn online has created a simulated registered training organisation (RTO) and a set of workplace documents to address this training package requirement. Each learner must use the simulated RTO to complete the assessments. Self-paced study hours It is essential that each learner undertake the prescribed hours of self-paced study before attempting the assessments. This will have a direct impact on the learner s ability to understand and meet the assessment requirements in each unit. A breakdown of the hours for each unit is available below. Self-paced study refers to the time required to read and understand the course content. Please note, given the time required to undertake the self-paced study hours, assessments and practicum hours this course may take up to 12 months to complete all course requirements. 5.0 Mandatory Entry Requirements You must be able to provide evidence of your vocational competency Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. ilearn online provides three (3) options to verify the learner s claims see table on the following page. You must choose one (1) option. Option 1 Option 2 The learner must submit a certified copy of a certificate or record of results pertaining to the learner s proposed teaching and assessing area. The learner must submit evidence of attending two (2) professional development activities based on their proposed teaching and assessing area within the past 12 months. 9 Option 3 The learner must complete a mapping matrix describing how their industry knowledge and experience demonstrates vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. The learner must also submit employer contact details so that ilearn online staff can confirm the learner s claims. Each prospective learner must have access to a number of participants to complete the projects. Refer to Table 1 below for more details. You can use a person who has recently enrolled with a RTO but has not commenced the course. Alternatively, if you have work colleagues who are looking to start a nationally recognised course, these individuals are considered real vocational learners as well. Note: Each unit contains projects which require you to either video record the session (and submit the footage for marking) or submit third party reports. The third party observer must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and make comments on what they hear and see during each session (the third party observer is not the assessor). 10 VET Practicum Hours (mandatory) Each student must undertake and provide evidence of a minimum of 260 hours of vocational education and training (VET) practicum that has occurred under the guidance of our VET mentor. You must complete a Practicum Record and submit this record within your current enrolment period. Your certificate and record of results will only be issued once you have achieved competency in all units and we have received your Practicum Record and evidence of 260 hours of VET practicum. Each prospective learner must have access to the following resources to complete the course: 1. Stable internet connection with a minimum download speed of 3mbps Go to to perform a speed test of their internet connection 2. An account - This can be created through Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail 3. Microsoft Office (2007 version or later) - Must include Word, Excel and PowerPoint 4. Compatible operating systems - Windows 7, 8 and higher or MAC 5. Current version of a web browser - Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox 6. Latest version of Adobe Reader 7. Video recording device that produces clear footage and audio sound 8. Desktop computer or laptop 9. Printer and scanner 10. Phone You must provide us with your Unique Student Identifier (USI) As part of our enrolment process, you must provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to receiving course access. From 1 January 2015, ilearn online is prevented from issuing a learner with a nationally recognised qualification, record of result and statement of attainment if the learner does not have a USI. Candidates may apply for a USI directly by clicking on the website link below We must determine if you require support Prior to commencing this training program, each learner will be required to complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Indicator Tool. 11 6.0 Learner access to resources Each enrolled learner will receive access to the following: Learner Workbooks (contains the assessments) Appendix Templates (linked to the projects) Learner Manual (contains the course content) Supporting resources such as industry fact sheets Live webinars and online discussion forums 7.0 Educational and Support Services ilearn online will review the learner s LLN Indicator Tool to determine if support services and reasonable adjustments are required. Reasonable adjustment options are available to accommodate learners who may have a learning need, disability or impairment. Any reasonable adjustments that are made to the training materials and assessments will be recorded in the learner s file. Prospective learners who require other support services (not listed) will need to call the office to discuss the options available prior to enrolment. 12 Administration Department ilearn online has a dedicated Administration Department which provides administrative support to enrolled learners. Assessment marking system Every assessment has been developed against the competency standards in each unit. Competency standards include, elements, performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, critical aspects for assessment, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, foundation skills and assessment conditions. Assessors have up to 20 business days to provide assessment feedback to learners by correspondence. A learner will either receive a satisfactory or not yet satisfactory result for their assessment submission. For more information about how results are determined please, refer to the Student Handbook. Assessment Resubmissions Assessments must be attempted in full before being submitted for marking. Learners have up to three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency in each unit. If a learner is deemed Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) on the third attempt, the learner will need to pay a $40 re-assessment fee each time thereafter. admin@ilearnonline.com.au Web: V4 Page 12
13 Changes to agreed training services Where there are any changes to agreed services, ilearn online will advise the learner in writing by , including any new third party arrangements or a change in ownership or changes to existing third party arrangements. 8.0 Recognition Processes Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ilearn online offers all candidates the opportunity to be assessed through recognition of prior learning. Please refer to the RPL Application Kit for this course. Each learner has up to three (3) opportunities to submit their RPL application for review. If the learner is deemed not yet competent on the third attempt, the learner must complete the course through formal training. There is a $75 RPL application fee, which is non-refundable (i.e. if the learner is unsuccessful in receiving full or partial recognition the application fee is non-refundable). Credit Transfer (CT) ilearn online also recognises statements of attainment and record of results issued by other registered training organisations (RTOs). There is a $75 credit transfer fee, which is non-refundable. For more information about our credit transfer process, refer to the Student Handbook. 9.0 Fee Information The course fee is inclusive of the following items: Learner access to the resources listed in Section 6.0 Trainer and assessor support by phone, and Skype Up to 12 months to complete the course Support services listed in Section 7.0 Certificate and a record of results upon successful completion of the course (does not include replacement certification) Payment Methods admin@ilearnonline.com.au Web: V4 Page 13

15 Students will be denied access to all course materials, training and assessment services, support services and the online learning system if the weekly payments are not received by ilearn online according to the debit arrangement. It is the student s responsibility to ensure there are sufficient funds in their nominated bank account or credit card. Failed payment fees do apply and are imposed by EziDebit. Please note: the payment plan option is not available for purchase orders.
