Writing program administration Using data collected in my dissertation research, I am comparing the characteristics of successful graduate teaching assistants of composition, as articulated by T.A. supervisors, with those articulated by specific teaching assistants identified as expert by the writing program in which they teach. The teaching of writing Based on results from my dissertation project, I am currently looking at how writing courses can facilitate the development of students identities as writers. Alison Bright 2

5 Research Experience My research experience has provided me with valuable experiences that have directly informed my work as a writing program administrator. In several research projects, I assumed positions of leadership and was responsible for supervising large-scale research and assessment projects. I have used fixed trait assessment methods to research student writing on an individual basis. I have also employed a combination of methods, such as observations, interviews, surveys, and focus groups, in order to conduct programmatic and group assessment.
