7 VIDLEARN Ltd, The Sussex Innovation Centre, Science Park Square, Falmer, BN1 9SB COMMUNICATION, SUPPORT AND ATTENDING PRACTICALS You will be encouraged to communicate with your fellow professionals during the course and our suite of communication tools offer the perfect environment to do so. Communicate includes a very easy to use forum. The forum has been a part of VIDLEARN since its inception and has proven very successful. It allows you to share problems, solutions and materials of interest with peers. Announce is a fantastic way to very quickly communicate with the cohort and/or the tutor team. It is available to trainees and tutors and supports messages up to 256 characters that are immediately ed to your selected recipients. More detailed information can be added and documents uploaded that recipients can view once logged into VIDLEARN. Tutorials can be requested electronically by Trainees or, in certain circumstances, the Tutor. Trainees can log the reason for a tutorial in advance giving the Tutor time to prepare and optimising the available time. The system supports tutorials that are delivered face-to-face, via Skype, or telephone. Document Share does exactly what it says on the tin. It is an area where documents of interest can be uploaded and labelled for later download by the cohort and tutor team. VIDLEARN has a great support record for a very good reason - we strive to resolve all issues within 15 minutes. This is achieved via listening; we do not use automated responses and your query is attended to by a VIDLEARN professional immediately. We provide this support 24/7 to suit all busy schedules so you will never be without help. Attending the practical module for Chemistry and Physics courses is often the highlight of the course. It is highly recommended if your circumstances allow. In certain circumstances we can help you arrange to complete the practical module nearer home if it is not possible to attend.
8 WHAT YOU WILL GET FROM THESE COURSES The Distance Learning Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses in Maths, Chemistry and Physics are designed to enhance your subject knowledge to GCSE and/or A Level in your specialist subject and facilitate a level of attainment in non-specialist science subjects and mathematics. Each trainee that completes the course will receive an End of Course Statement. If applicable, this statement is also signed and sent to your ITT provider so that they have evidence of your completion and level of competence. The End of Course Statement details your assignment marks for your core modules. Additionally, it shows your progress throughout the course by showing the variance between the first and second takes of all Subject Knowledge Audits and Online Assessments you have taken. This is very powerful data and invariably shows significant progress throughout the course. The statement will also detail each recording you have watched and for how long. You also receive ongoing science practical experience (Physics and Chemistry courses). The practical module is delivered during the summer of 2015 and usually requires your attendance. The module is a great way to improve your skills in delivering and demonstrating practical science and you also get to meet your fellow trainees and the tutor team. The courses also come with a bursary of 200 per week. Bursaries are usually paid monthly where progress through the modules is evident. Finally, you get to learn at your own pace, share experiences with fellow trainees within a growing community and enjoy an established and professional delivery format.
