7 Creative Commons License You may add a Creative Commons License to your item. These licenses help inform others how the item may or may not be used. Adding a Creative Commons license is generally recommended. There are six Creative Commons Licenses. All of them require attribution, or, giving appropriate credit to the author. 10 ProQuest ProQuest maintains an internationally recognized archive of graduate scholarship. These works are available through library subscription databases for easy and convenient access. Hood s local ProQuest database: Dissertations and Hood College ProQuest also provides authors with the choice to publish their dissertation or thesis to ProQuest s open access database. There is a one-time fee for this service. ProQuest s open access database: ProQuest s Open Access Database Students completing a dissertation or thesis should upload their work to both ProQuest and MD-SOAR.

11 Submitting Work to ProQuest How it works: 1 On the Web, navigate to ProQuest ETD Administrator 2 Log in or Create a New Account 3 Click on link titled Submit my ETD 4 Follow steps or use left navigation to complete the process.

13 Library Repository (LibRep) As a part of the goal to preserve and protect Hood scholarship, the library staff will also place a copy of student work in a dark repository. This repository will not be used for disseminating work, but will serve as a separate instance, or backup, of our institution s intellectual assets. LibRep will be a part of IT s regular backup schedule.
