3 ACKNOW LEDGE MENT E-learning support institutions that need help with instructional design, online course and program development and/or efforts to meet quality and accessibility standards. Our approach meets institutions wherever they may be in their online program development. Online courses need to be content-rich, engaging and collaborative. E-learning enable the learners to acquire and share information through MOODLE version 3.3 learning platform. This HELP E-Learning student manual helps you understand the interface, functionalities and activities flow. The E-Learning can be accessed through The purpose of this manual is to provide detail guidance and manual on utilizing the new e-learning for student who are new to this platform. 1. INTRODUCTION TO E-LEARNING The E-learning is a learning management system (LMS) designed to support the online learning & Course Management Activities. It was developed by using the MOODLE version 3.3 platform to support the social constructionist pedagogical practices in which the students and instructors collaborate to create the knowledge through online teaching and learning, collaboration and group work. It includes built-in, synchronous and asynchronous communication tools, blog, forum, chat, assignment, quiz, wiki, and other features. Different from the old version e-learning platform which can be accessed at new E-learning platform functionalities not only limited to creating and uploading online course, but also modified and utilized as the supplemental platform to suit the requirement of the user in fully synchronous and asynchronous online courses.

ABOUT NEW E-LEARNING (HELP UNIVERSITY E-LEARNING) & OLD E-LEARNING (ELEARNING2) Starting from May, 2017, we migrated the data from the old e-learning (MOODLE version 1.9.3) to the new e-learning (MOODLE version The HU E-Learning is integrated with Education Management System (EMS). Once a student registered for a course and the record was found in Education Management System (EMS), they will be automatically enrolled in this online course in HU E-Learning and able to access the relevant material. As students begin to register for the new semester year, your name will appear in the list of enrolled students on your respective online courses automatically within 24 hours. You will normally have access for up to 4 years of courses, unless an instructor has chosen to make courses unavailable. There are several reason we migrated the data and upgrade from version to version 3.3: a) Scalability In the new version of e-learning, more useful modules / plugins features were added (see APPENDIX A). b) Data integration and interoperability with other information system (Data integration with Education Management System (EMS) ) c) User friendliness & Responsive (easy configuration & uploading materials, Customizable interface and cross-device compatible) d) Security It increases the security and stability by providing bug fix support. For more details about the features comparison, please refer to APPENDIX B.

5 3. LOGIN TO E-LEARNING To access the new e-learning, go to NEW ELEARNING URL. Your username would be your student ID but with lower case (for example, b123456). The password would be similar to your username unless you have changed it. After login successfully, you should be redirect to the E- Learning Homepage as shown in Figure 1. Click the as shown in Figure 3. and you will be linked to Dashboard Figure 1: The Landing Pages for E-learning.

6 3.1 F ORG OTTE N PA SSWORD 1. At the login pages, click the Forgotten your username or password?. Reset your password by submitting your username and/or your student address (Figure 2). If we can find you in the database, an will be sent to your address with instructions how to get access again. 7 4. STUDENT PROFILE After login, you should see your name at the top of the screen. For the first time login, please go to your profile to update your information such as change your username to student ID if you are register using your name. 5. COURSE ENROLMENT You will automatically be enrolled from EMS onto all the official modules that you registered for. You are given the privileges to access to all the courses that you are enrolled in as shown in Figure 3. You should see a listing of the course categories by university, department and programmes at the right panel block (See Figure 3, 4, & 5). MAIN MENU The main menu contains the resources that uploaded by sites administrator which consists of: a) Site News (List of News & Announcements); b) The Main File include the Student s EMS Evaluation Manual, The Computer Services Manual, Student and Instructor s LMS User Manual. c) e-learning Rules & Regulations d) The link of the Required software (For example, office Mix, Video Editing Tools) e) Sample & Template (For example, powerpoint and word template) f) Guide to use Turnitin g) Guide for Online Access to MyPride Portal Figure 3: The Main Menu with the list of documents 6. ACCESSING YOUR COURSES To access a course in Moodle, first click the category where the course of your interest belongs. Then click on the name of the course. Figure 4 shows the course structures and programmes listed for each department under HELP University. By taking ELM graduate school as example, Figure 5 shows the list of the course for all programs in ELM Graduate School.

Click on the available courses (for example, DBA8002: Emerging Issues in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management), you will be linked to the course homepage as

10 shown in Figure 6. Figure 6: The DBA8002: Emerging Issues in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management Course Homepage (Topic-based course format) There are four types of course format, which are a) weekly format, b) topic format, c) social format and d) SCORM format. For the weekly course format, the courses will be organized week by week, with a clear start date and a finish date. Moodle will create a section for each week of your course. You can add content, forums, quizzes, and so on in the section for each week. (see Figure 7).

11 Figure 7: Weekly-based Course Structure For the topic-based course format, the course is organized into topic sections that a teacher can give titles to. Each topic section consists of activities, resources and labels. The topic-based course format is useful if your course is objective based and each objective may take different

12 amounts of time to complete. An example of this would be scaffolding where the students are building upon the knowledge from earlier topics. For the social-based course format, it is a forum-based course format. It would be useful for implementation in free form instruction in which student are freely to discuss a particular topic and to seek for assistance from other peers and instructor. For the single activity format, there are only one section. Instructor are allowed to select the type of activity as shown in Figure 8. For example, for the SCORM format, the instructors can added the SCORM format packages as the content of the course (refer Figure 9 & 10). Figure 8: SCORM format

14 8. DOWNLOAD OR READ THE LEARNING RESOURCES Access the course pages, the learning resources shown in the every topic / modules. For preparation, you are encourage to download and read the reading materials uploaded by your instructor before courses started. 9. SUBMIT ASSIGNMENT Types of assignment activity Types of assignments in your course: essay individual exam group work presentation, group assignment. reflective journals participation in discussion forum Quiz 12. The instructor can set the restriction access by allowing ONLY those who complete the course to generate & print their certificate. The certificates can be customized by administrator by modifying a PHP file within the certificate folder by direct access to the server your Moodle site. User can create the site calendar, course calendar, user & group calendar as well as export calendar to Google by creating.ics file.

19 Attendance Web conferencing (BigBlueButt on) mod_bigblue buttonbn odle.org/23/en/ Attendance_mo dule org/plugins/mo d_bigbluebutton bn This module allow the instructors to be able take attendance during class, track the student attendance and for students to be able to view their own attendance record. This module allow instructors to generate report for either entire class or individual students. BigBlueButton have the powerful recording & playback of the session capability. As compared to openmeetings module, BigBlueButton is more easier to install, user friendly, make customization. It includes other synchronous components such as real-time sharing of slides (including whiteboard), audio, video, chat, and desktops. RecordingsBN plugin (mod_recordingsbn ) is needed to lets instructors to give students access to the recordings, publish/unpublish recordings, and delete the recordings. This plugins is necessary for synchronous learning.

20 Dialogue org/plugins/mo d_dialogue This module allowing two way communication among instructor, students & their peers. This module is optional as students are freely to choose built-in private messaging Checklist org/plugins/mo d_checklist The instructor can create or generate the checklist from the activities in a course. The students and instructor can check-off each items as they are completed.

21 Grade Me org/plugins/bloc k_grade_me Useful plugin for instructor and admin, that pulls together and displays all assignments, quizzes, essays, and file responses that still need to be graded Restriction by Course Completion org/plugins/avai lability_coursec ompleted This module allowing the instructor to restrict access of students to certain module/ activities (conditional activities). For example, the students are only allowed to download the certificate only when they complete the quiz, assignment & learning online course.

22 Podcasting odle.org/20/en/ Podcasting Podcasting allow the instructor to deliver the current episode of lesson in audio and video for the students who subscribe to the course. It is especially useful for the language learning course. Assessment/ Exam Proctoring (Using Remote Proctoring by accessing the sites : octoru.com/ or using Remote Proctor Now (RPNow) / Examity om/moodle-2/ ) Allowing the administrator/ instructor/proctor to verify the identity of the quiztaker that he is not cheating & completing the exam during the time allowed.

23 Quickmail org/plugins/bloc k_quickmail Quickmail is a block that provides selective, bulk ing within courses. It features includes: 1) Multiple attachments 2) Drafts 3) Signatures 4) Filter by Role 5) Filter by Groups 6) Optionally allow Students to people within their group. It is very useful for reminding ("nagging") learners about quiz closing dates.
