5 Understanding MSAS LMS Objects Learning Group is logical grouping of users that caters to specific learning needs of that group. MSAS LMS Users can be assigned to one or more learning group. Group User assignments can be static (Manually assigned) or dynamic (Criteria based automatic assignment.) Modifications in user profile (via HR feed or manual updates to user profile) may trigger changes to the assignment of users and their assigned groups. Group consists of one or more learners, Instructors, Managers and Group Administrators. Group can be assigned training courses as Optional or Mandatory with due date and frequency. For periodic training MSAS LMS auto computes next due date depending on the user s last completion date and periodicity of the course. Group Calendar allows MSAS LMS users to track of instructor led training events. Group Administrators can manage access to users, courses and announcements for their administered group. Group Manager s can track individual or group training progress for compliance tracking and reporting. Groups have custom styles for group based UI branding and custom look n feel. Groups can also have custom certificate layouts and styling. Users (Learners, Managers and Administrators) can be assigned to multiple groups at the same time. The Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a technical specification that governs how online training (or e-learning ) is created and delivered to learners. The essence of SCORM is that any content that conforms to the SCORM specifications will work with any SCORM conformant LMS. SCORM dictates the technical specifications for creating, executing e-learning content. SCORM allows you to create any type of learning content, however it doesn t specify instructional design, visual appearance or anything else that affects the educational experience.
