1 Launching Your Course Resources QUICK START GUIDE For Integrating Your Course Package into Desire2Learn System Desire2Learn 8.3 Cengage Learning provides Course Packages that are designed to seamlessly integrate with your institution s Desire2Learn Learning Management System. Integrating your Course Package into your existing Desire2Learn course is a simple process that you should be able to complete using the steps outlined in this document. HM ver.1.0

2 All of the required files for integrating your Course Package are located in the ZIP file that you received in the from Cengage Learning. >> Do not lose/delete your from Cengage Learning since you might need it later. 1. Open the , and click Download Course Package. 2. Save the ZIP file to your Desktop. >> Do not open the ZIP file at this time.

3 Desire2Learn categorizes Cengage Learning s course packages as SCORM Content. In order to integrate your Course Package, you need to locate the ZIP file that you saved to your Desktop and add it to your course. 1. Log into Desire2Learn and go to the My Home page. 2. Click the pencil icon (in the Actions column) next to the course that will host your Course Package. 3. From the menu on the left, click Import/Export/Copy Components. To complete the integration, you will need to access the ZIP file that you saved to your Desktop. 4. Click Browse, locate the ZIP file and click Next. >> When the preprocessing process is complete, click Next. 5. Click the Select All Components checkbox and click Next. >> Click Next again when the import process is complete.

4 Now that the Course Package has been added to your Desire2Learn course you may assign Grade Book categories to your resources. Grading for SCORM objects is usually determined in the SCORM Package and set during the authoring process however be sure to confirm that the Maximum grade and the Grading method are set in according to your preferences as referenced in the previous section. 5 and Instructor Tools Now that you have added the Course Package to your Desire2Learn course, you can launch the Content Player and view your Course Package. The Course Package contains a combination of gradable Learning Tracks, Course Package Tools and Support & Documentation resources. 1. Locate your Course Package link and then click Enter button to open the Content Player. 2. To enable your Instructor Tools use the left menu of the Content Player to click on the Instructor Tools link under Course Package Tools and you will be prompted to enter an instructor access code. >> You can obtain the Access Code from the that included the ZIP file. It may also be provided to you separately. (You will only have to enter your Access Code once). Following are the Instructor Tools which you may use, Request a New Course Package: each Course Package has its own gradebook. To separate your student gradebook into course sections, request a new Course Package for each section. Request a new Course Package at the end of each term to remove outdated gradebook data. Request Additional Instructor Access Codes: request additional access codes for other instructors or teaching assistants in your course. 3. To access the course content and resources, click the links on the left side of the screen. >> If you are unable to view the content, verify that pop-up blocking and cookies are disabled within your web browser. 6 For each Learning Track set up in the Desire2Learn Grade Book, only the final exam score will be reported. In order to view the grades in Desire2Learn Grade Book the instructor will have to export them into the Desire2Learn Gradebook. Scores for all other assignments (e.g. pretests/quizzes) must be viewed directly in the DLMS Grade Book. >> Note: Students should complete only one Learning Track at a time. Enabling SCORM Content >> Note: Students should have only one window open at a time. >> Note: If a student takes a final exam multiple times, only the last score will be displayed in the Desire2Learn Grade Book. Completing the Integration DONE! You should now have access to your Course Package resources. Click the Technical Support resource link (in the Content Player) for stance.
