Lifestyle Academy / Travel Toursim and Aviation Lecturer in Cabin Crew and Aviation (0.6 FTE) Ref: LA 5132 Salary: 24,853-33,421 per annum This post involves teaching and assessing on Cabin Crew/Aviation programmes across all levels of qualifications offered within the school including full and part time programmes. Your hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to student demand. You will be required to undertake course leadership responsibility which entails managing a course team, monitoring attendance, retention and achievement and learner support. The successful candidate will have a related degree level academic/vocational qualification in a relevant curriculum area of travel, Tourism and Aviation and teaching qualification and be a member of the Institute for Learning (IfL). 2 Job Description Job Title: Reports To: Grade: Pension: Teaching Role Category: Lecturer Manager Lecturer Grade B TPS Full KEY TASKS: To plan and lead the development and delivery of course provision and contribute to the day to day operation associated with course delivery including carrying out teaching and learning. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching and Learning Delivery 1. Delivering teaching and learning and carrying out associated preparation and assessment processes. 2. Advising, guiding and supporting learners to identify and achieve their learning aims. Course Operational Activities 3. Timetabling at course/curriculum team level including staffing and accommodation, as appropriate. 4. Organising learner groups and sub groups e.g. tutorial, activity groups etc. 5. Securing and contributing to a wide range of enrichment activities including visits, placements, visiting speakers and other activities. Curriculum Organisation and Course Team Leadership 6. Leading a course/curriculum team to ensure the quality and effective delivery of the learning experience. 7. Reviewing and developing the curriculum in terms of its quality including attendance, retention and achievement. 8. Reviewing and undertaking course development including modes of learning, unitisation and e-learning. 9. Using, accessing and updating MIS data, including registers and those associated with the quality processes. 10. Planning, arranging and delivering the curriculum programme and the full range of activities that make up the learning experience including the writing and revising of Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans. 11. Managing and participating in the learner recruitment and selection process. 12. Maintaining course files and other documentation. Contributing to securing the quality of the curriculum in terms of issues such as attendance, retention and achievement 13. Initiating, managing and finalising course Self Assessment Report documentation including action planning and target setting. 14. Producing course material and, where appropriate, updating the course handbook and calendar as required. 15. Overseeing and contributing to learner enrolment and registration including the production and maintenance of course information sheets. 16. Organising, chairing and keeping records of course meetings. 17. Overseeing the assessment process and liaising, as appropriate, with internal and external verifiers, moderators and other relevant external bodies. 18. Identifying and ordering resources for the planning and delivery of the teaching and learning experience. 19. Liaising with the appropriate manager over staff absences, inducting new staff, learner disciplinary matters and complaints. 20. Collating and writing learner reports and references. 21. Co-ordinating and updating progress files/ilps. 22. Liaise with external agencies/organisations, with parents/guardians and others as appropriate to the learner group.
