2 TootCards: A Comprehensive Solution for Membership Card Management and Behaviour Analysis HO Ming Hei, Alter Supervised by Dr. TS Li Data mining is important for every company because there is a lot of business related information in the data. In Hong Kong, distributing membership cards is a common way to boost sales but people already have a lot of cards to carry. Regardless of some companies creating their own membership application, most of these card schemes share a common structure: providing the latest news and collect the points from each transaction. In order to save the development and maintenance cost of a company in application and data mining, I combine both membership card management and customer s behaviour analysis as an integrated solution. In this project, the notions of data visualisation and cloud processing were integrated. The data visualisation will display the customers shopping behaviour on the website. The companies can adapt new marketing strategies according to the customers behaviour. For users, they can get the latest news from their followed companies and collect points to redeem coupons. To test its effectiveness, a prototype system was evaluated and surveyed by the shop owner and customers. The results showed that the system could suit their needs and they were willing to try this in the future. Alter is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. He graduated in Associate Degree in Information Technology at PolyU - Hong Kong Community College in He worked in Shanghai Ctrip for 3 months when he joined the Cyberport Internship programme in His short-term career goal is to become a project manager in the IT industry. He is interested in data mining and data visualization techniques. Alter can be contacted at alterho1015@gmail.com.

3 A FAQ Retrieval System - FAQRS LAM Tsz Shun, Edward Supervised by Dr. Andrew Lui With the rapid development of technology, there are lots of products and services out there. Many of them provide a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page for the users to obtain more information of the products or services. Most of the FAQs pages have too many question-and-answer (QA) sets and they are not categorized, therefore users might not find that FAQs page useful. The aim of this project is to enhance and improve the current FAQs pages. As a result, it can provide the most relevant and reliable QA sets to the user. In this project, a web application will be developed. The application uses the technique of information retrieval and NLP to help do the matching between the FAQs and user query. The application consists of two main parts: keyword extraction system, matching and ranking system. Keyword extraction system can automatically extract the keyword from FAQs and user query and generate a bag of keyword for the matching. The matching and ranking system can give out the most relevant QA set and a ranked QA list by interacting with the user, let the to refine the query. With the help this application, users can help themselves to get the information they need. It also can help the company to minimize the cost of customer service. 4 An Investigation of using Local Search Methods in MOACO LEUNG Chun Wa Supervised by Dr. Vanessa Ng Multi-objective optimization is a popular field in evolutionary computation, and bi-objective Traveling Salesman (btsp) is an essential benchmark of MOCOPs. Multi-objective ant colony optimization (MOACO) was introduced a decade ago solving multi-objective combinational optimization problems (MOCOPs). Local Search is usually implemented to cooperate with MOACO. It improves MOACO to produce a better quality of Pareto Front. Meanwhile, the fast convergence of local search does not guarantee a global best solution. Iterated Local Search (ILS) was proposed to resolve the problem. But still, it demands on fine-tuning to the parameters for perturbation. We present a hybrid method implementing a new local search method into MOACO. The suggested local search method combined Iterated Local Search and Variable Neighborhood Descent (ILS-VND). The proposed algorithm has integrated the benefits from both ILS and VND and to mitigate the stagnation from local search. It involves consecutive local search process that enables wider search by changing neighbor structure hierarchically. To demonstrate the performance, the proposed algorithm is applied to several btsp instances. Several performance indicators and statistical testings were adopted to assess the result. The evaluation showed the new implementation could achieve a better result than conventional local search methods. 8 Learning Anatomy Through Augmented Reality YEE Cho Hin, Kelvin This project aims to develop an educational application to assist students to learn anatomy. Anatomy is a difficult subject because students have to memorize tons of medical vocabularies and terminologies. Although there are several ways to learn, they are still not effective. A conventional way is to learn from 2D pictures in the textbooks and static 3D models being shown during the lectures or tutorials. Usually students study human body system through anatomical pictures, which provides limited plane content. However, it is not detailed enough and students cannot grasp the concepts easily. The Augmented Reality (AR) technology provides a new approach to educate students. It breaks through the wall of dimensions. Traditional learning materials, which printed on paper, can now be manipulated in the mid-air freely through an application. The application developed in this project allows students to observe the body system without limitation of 2D learning materials by breaking through the wall of dimension. Classical 2D images are now transferred into three-dimensional, which allows students to make a better understanding about the structure of human body. Supervised by Dr. Vanessa Ng In addition, human body models are not static anymore. In the AR application perspective, human body can go alive. What conventional plastic anatomical models cannot be represented now can be shown on the AR application. For example, the flow direction of blood, the bumping of heart, lung or muscles contraction, which are all important details of human body systems. For this much of information, all they need is to install this application. Kelvin Yee is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. He achieved four outstanding student awards in these four years, and he won the mini-programming contest at the OUHK in 2014 and 2015 with his team. He is also enthusiastic to participate in different activities. Kelvin short-term career goal is to become a software developer in game area or any category. 16 Recommending Accurate and Popular Hashtags CKL Chan Siu Hin, Anson LAU Ho Yin, Michael KWAN King Hei, Kelvin Supervised by Dr. Keith Lee In this project, we developed a hashtag recommendation tool called HelpMe# as a solution to promote the use of recent and relevant hashtags, and through it enhancing the search of tweets. Although hashtags, a word or a phrase prefixed with #, can be used as a searching index for tweets, we have observed that Twitter users seldom put hashtags in their tweets. Moreover, the hashtags used are usually not unified and organised. This would lower the effectiveness of tweet searching. HelpMe# is a simple and convenient computer software that recommends relevant and recent hashtags according to usercomposed tweets. HelpMe# consists of two parts. The first part processes and stores the filtered, existing recent tweets with hashtags in local database for future references. The second part receives tweets from users, filter them and extract keywords from them. They would then be used to evaluate the relations between the user-composed tweets and the stored tweets from the first part of the tool, and finally outputting the recommendations back to users, based on the level of relevance computed in the second part. This tool is light-weighted and fast, providing a convenient way for getting hashtag recommendations. We expect this tool can encourage the use of recent and relevant hashtags, and increase the effectiveness of tweet searching. Anson Chan is a student studying in OUHK's Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. 19 Kid AR: A Mobile Application for Objects and Vocabularies Learning in Kindergarten Using Augmented Reality DigiGo YU Lap Chung, Ken WONG Chun Yin, Dennis HU Jun Hao, Nova Supervised by Dr. Keith Lee In this project, we present a mobile application for objects and vocabularies learning in kindergarten using Augmented Reality (AR). We have noticed that traditional methods in Kindergarten teaching have flaws. Advanced AR technology may fix the flaws and create more possibilities. To make the teaching more effective and interesting to children, we applied AR technology into object and vocabularies learning. Children are able to see interactive 3D AR images instead of plain 2D pictures on textbooks. This will strengthen their memories on the materials and arouse their interest in learning. Kid AR includes multiple functions for teaching and is implemented in a user-friendly approach. Besides the standard AR objects viewing mode for the teaching materials, there are also revision exercises, database and data tracking, as data processing and analysis. It is designed for teacher to use as a teaching tool so the functions are designed to assist their teaching. To show students the colourful 3D models, teacher will connect the device to a projector. Teacher can show the students how the AR object interacts with real world background. There are also size change, rotation and sound to make it more appealing. The exercise function is also handled by the teacher. Since all students data are stored in a single application, teachers will be able to save the exercises answers and access the results with ease. Data processing and statistic will be generated once teacher input the required data. Teachers will be able to monitor children s learning progress. It will be an all-in-one kindergarten teaching application. as well Ken Yu is studying in the degree of Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. Society is the Sandbox dot WONG Tik San, Dixon LEUNG Man Him, Tim TANG Chi Ho, Toni Supervised by Dr. TS Li Citizens are lacking motivation to step outside and have a look to their surroundings, Hong Kong people put focus on their own work 6 days a week, and more likely to get stuck into the mobile phone s screen during the weekends instead of exploring the city. Our aim is to encourage citizens to explore the city as well as extending their social circle via a communitybased game. Hopefully, citizens would enjoy meeting people on the street or having great fun with their friends in order to strengthen the bond of or widen their social circle. Our approach is a location-based game that integrates the reality with a virtual world. The tasks of the game will motivate players to keep jogging in the street because they are required to dominate the generators as much as they can. Dominion of City is designed with real world as game element. One of the obstacles would be the incident in reality such as crowded streets and road maintenance; however, players can think out of the box to reach their destination, providing high extent of freedom to players. Two teams compete against each other to dominate generators in a period of time. In addition, the Bridge system: forming a line of four generators gains bonus score and end the game immediately, which is designed to set the atmosphere of collaboration, strategy for the competition. The game is designed for whom are looking for Real Virtuality. 21 Mobile Server Service: Provide Convenient Services for Mobile Applications with Server-based Approach E-U CHEUNG Tsz Chung YEUNG Kam Fai HA Wing Hong Supervised by Dr. Kelvin Lee Nowadays, smart phone usage is experiencing rapid growth, and a mobile device can provide a lot of functionalities in applications. But compare with PC, mobile devices had some limitations that lower the functionality and effectiveness, for examples shortage power supply, lower processing speed and less data storage space. To achieve higher functionality in mobile applications, using server web services for application though internet access is a solution. When we review the existing products, we found that most of reliable and high functionality service need to pay and the free web service had a lot of limitation like slow accessing speed, limit database storage and low functionality, it means that developers need to pay for reliable web services or build the server function on their own. In this project, our aim is to develop multiple free of charge server services for android applications, design the functions and provide RESTful APIs to android application developer. We altogether provide nine services, each of the functions is a component that developers can select the suitable service and apply in their application by using the RESTful API to connect our service. Our services can reduce the code length of the applications and shorten the developing time for developer, hope developer can have a great experience on our service with acceptable development costs. 22 Nimble Body: A Mobile Application with Wireless Sensor for A Reliable and Fast Measurement of Range of Motion FLN FUNG Kam Kong LEE Chi Yui NGAN Chi Yuen Supervised by Dr. Andrew Lui The aim of the Nimble Body project is to develop an android application with a wearable intelligent sensor. It is designed to provide a fast, reliable and accurate Range of Motion (ROM) assessment method for people who have joint problems. ROM is the linear or angular distance of freedom your joints can be moved in a certain direction. Joints are naturally constructed to allow for a normal range of degrees and types of movement such as flexion, extension and rotation etc. for healthy people. In other words, ROM measurement is a physical assessment of the state of the healthy level of joints. In comparison with traditional ROM measurement methods, the Nimble Body project emphasizes on selfhelp. It means the ROM measurement can be done by users without the presence of any professionals but still provides a sufficiently accurate result. It is achieved by both proper system design and use of technologies. The wearable intelligent sensor is used for collecting 3-axis coordinate data from its accelerometer that can be sent to an android application to have further computation. Also, the ROM measurement system has a built-in guidance to ensure user follow a set of standard procedure e.g. calibration correctly during ROM measurement, comparable to what professionals would do. The target populations of the android application include the middle-aged who suffers from occasional joint pain, the elderlies, and people under a rehabilitation period. These people could use the application to monitor the health state of their joints. Samuel Fung is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. 24 An Android Auction System for Fund-raising Banquets Future LO Wai Kiu CHAN Chui Kuen, Tina LEE Man, Mani Supervised by Dr. TS Li This project showcases our implementation of using mobile technology in fund-raising banquets. Typically, auction is organized for entertainment and financial support, hence the better experience for the guests should encourage donations. Technology gadgets are often impressive due to typical perceptions about them. Therefore, a prototype setup was built to explore its feasibility and effectiveness. It is a client-server set-up where the client is an Android application. Two server applications were used to separate out the tasks of processing one-off requests and responses, and of pushing auctionrelated messages from server. This is to ensure the bandwidth usage and phone batteries are well spent. The results indicated that developing such an application to enhance fund-raising banquets is feasible but not very effective. It is worth-noting that such an idea is not new. It emerged over 10 years ago, and there already exist similar products in the app market. There has not been any commercial big hit over the years, so this project may give insights to those who are interested in why. 25 Meeting Minute Organizer Using Speech Recognition for Speech Capturing and Meeting Transcription FYP Go CHUNG Chun Ming, Gabriel CHOI Lok Fai, Aidan Supervised by Dr. Oliver Au In our final year project, we have developed an android application called Meeting Minutes Organizer for secretaries to take notes during the meeting and help them organize the notes. Secretaries use text editors like Microsoft Word or WordPad to write down important decisions made in the meeting. We found that they might not quick enough to write down long sentences and phrases. They might also miss listening what participants said due to distractions. In order to ease the effort in note taking, our application employs Speech to Text API to automatically convert meeting member s speech into transcript. The results of conversion were shown to secretaries in real time. Secretaries could select the key points from the transcripts for note taking without writing or typing the whole phrase or sentence. Our meeting minute s organizer also helps them to organize their points to corresponding items. Therefore secretaries have more time to do other useful tasks valuable to their companies. To test our application, we found two groups of Open University of Hong Kong students. Each group will use different notetaking methods. After the simulated meeting, we will compare the average time to complete a meeting minutes. Aidan Choi is studying in Bachelor of Computing with Honors in Internet Technology programme. 28 Intelligent Shopping System to Improve Shopping Experience with NFC Helloworld LEE Lai Yin, Albert LEUNG Chun Kit, Jacky LAI Tsun Sang, Johnson Supervised by Mr. Kevin Tse Supermarket shopping is more and more popular around the world. We observed that not everyone can receive all information they need from the supermarket. The product information is not clear enough or not customer-friendly for the customers to get with. Some information is placed above and under the eye level, which is hard for the customer to see. We try to improve the customers shopping experience by providing timely and accurate information. We proposed a NFC-based price tag, which the users can acquire more detailed information in addition to price, like country of origin, weight and brands. To that end, the user-side application will display the information and connect to the supermarket database. Once the user send the request by connecting the NFC tag through mobile phone, the database will respond the information needed. For the elder target users, text to speech is included to get the information by just listening from the application. The system is evaluated on the control and testing datasets. Meanwhile, tourists behaviour is changing. As smartphone goes more daily and popular, mobile applications have started playing an important role in tourism industry. Tourists can be benefited from using mobile app when travelling if applications are well developed. However, there are more than 40 applications suggested to visitors who come to Hong Kong. It is inconvenient for visitors to download all applications and change between applications when they want to find different information. It is feasible to integrate some of the good features in a single application. The aim of the project is to develop a mobile application integrating the good features from other applications and adding some new functions. With this mobile app, tourists will be able to find the local attractions, use GPS navigation on map, earn e-coupons, discuss with others on discussion platform and schedule their trip. Moreover, a live time weather notification and search for nearby attractions will bring more convenience to tourist. Users of this application should be able to plan their trip and find the attractions more easily. It can help visitors arranging their travelling plans and find up-to-date information. 35 Android Assistant Application: Android Home Launcher for Visually Impaired Junchou CHENG Wai Wang, Harris TANG Lap Man, Tony CHEUNG Chun Sing, Rick Supervised by Dr. Kelvin Lee The overall number of mobile phone users grew in 2016 significantly with Android s market share being 6 times bigger than IOS. However, most of the visually impaired would rather use IOS, as the appropriate application for them is inadequate on Android than ISO, and the existing solutions on Android platform are either insufficient or hard to use, like Google TalkBack. Therefore, we aim to develop an application on Android platform to fulfil the need of visually impaired. In this project, we develop an android home launcher with finger gesture, text to speech and speech to text functions, where users can manipulate and access to different applications. As most of the existing solutions are based on text to speech and speech to text, which is sometimes difficult to manipulate with, we come up with the idea of using finger gesture on mobile screen to access to different applications instead of using voice command all the time. Besides the basic manipulation on Android, we also develop a banknote recognition function for visually impaired as our research found that the visually impaired mostly struggle on knowing the banknote they are holding. With the home launcher we developed, users can easily manipulate with the mobile using gestures, voice command without the sight on screen. And they can use the banknote recognition function to replace the traditional tools. Harris Cheng is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. 37 HTML5 Killer: A Mobile App for Learning HTML5 in Flexible Education Style MARS LAM Wing Kam, Melody WONG Lai Wun, Ashley YIP Wing Kan, Raymond Supervised by Ms. Terri Wong Surfing the net becomes a habit for most of the citizens. In a computing programme, writing a website becomes a compulsory topic to serve this common habit. Thus, one of the most popular web technologies, HTML5, has been included in the teaching syllabus for every Year 1 entry computing students. Students with a fresh background of computing will find the set of syntax and structure of HTML5 difficult and confusing to study. Under this situation together with the passive learning mode in the university, the effectiveness and level of interest in learning HTML5 will drastically decrease. In order to solve this problem, a digital game-based mobile application will be developed in this project. It aims to introduce a HTML self-study system for users to learn HTML5 with a mentor coupled with gaming system. Students can gain access to centralized resources such as tutorials to carry out self-learning. Text editor and interactive games like puzzle and error searching are emphasised in this application. Students can apply what they have learnt and practice them. By completing the tests and games, experience will be gained and accumulated. Once they fall behind the schedule, there will be a notification to remind them to catch up with their schedule. This application will enrich the interest of students to learn HTML5 and encourage them to carry out self-learning, hence it directly improves academic result. Moreover, this greatly helps students to make their own achievement and reach self-satisfaction. Melody Lam is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology at the OUHK. 39 Encouraging Office Workers to Develop Walking Habit for Improving Health: By Using Indoor Positioning on Mobile Game Remedy CHAN Ka Tsun WONG Cheuk Ho YUEN Kai Leung Supervised by Dr. Andrew Lui The aim of this project is to motivate office workers to do exercise everyday by playing exergame and subsequently increase their awareness of healthy living. Doing exercises is not highly valued by office workers in Hong Kong. Many consider watching videos or playing games more important to them. One of the reasons why officers are not considering doing exercise is the requirement of facilities for exercise, especially in central business districts. We found that the rest time is the key moment that could encourage office workers to do exercise. By the research, exergames (electronic games that combine exercise and play) could encourage physical activity by making them more enjoyable. The mobile devices are suitable platform for the exergames in our project because it can support indoors activity in the office such as walking, jumping and running. Therefore, this project aims at developing a mobile game to encourage workers to do exercise in their office with exciting gameplay when they taking rest. To achieve the goal of our project, we need to design interesting and playable mobile exergames to facilitate office workers walking. To this end, we developed a role playing game (RPG) with WiFi fingerprinting technique, in which users can play as a role to finish the special mission by walking in their office. After the development, we would use the questionnaires to evaluate the effectiveness in the exergames. The result of this project would shed light on differences in user s habit by playing the exergame. 40 VR Serious Game for Treatment of Trypophobia Serious Mode WU Tsz Chung, Kimble YAN Ho Yin, Eric CHEUNG Hoi Man, German Supervised by Dr. Andrews Lui Humans are naturally born with fear, different things would stimulate the fear in the deep, which is called Phobia. A kind of Phobia was found recently - Trypophobia, which is phobia of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps, has been proposed just a decade ago. There is a lack of solution to this new phobia. Fortunately, technology is developed in tremendous speed nowadays and we can get help from it. Our project aims to create a serious game, using modern computer technology to help people with trypophobia to reduce their fear. Serious game refers to game that is designed for a particular purpose rather than just entertainment. Recently, VR became a popular technology which provides realistic and interactive immersive experience to users. We decided to create a VR maze game to treat trypophobia based on exposure therapy. The game exposes players to trypophobic environment for exposure therapy. Players will see objects with holes as they go through mazes. Different from traditional treatment, this game provides an adventure for players rather than looking at some boring pictures. The combination of game and treatment can motivate patients to cure themselves. As the players advance to a higher level, difficulties of mazes will increase and more trypophobic objects will be put in the mazes. AI monsters will be introduced into the game in later stages, which chase the players to enforce them exploring the mazes thoroughly. Player needs to overcome all those difficulties to escape from the maze. Our game runs on Android platform. It makes sure people are not required to have high-tech equipments. It keeps the portability and let everyone can treat by themselves. Kimble Wu is studying in the Bachelor of Computing with Honours in Internet Technology programme. 41 HKMG: An Indoor Positioning Technology Based Tour Guide Android Application that Minimizes Shortage of Docent Programme of Hong Kong Museums ShareLabTrust SZE Pak Hang, Anthony CHAN Ka Wing, Mervyn NGOK Ka Wai, Chris Supervised by Dr. Oliver Au It is observed that the current programmes in most of the Hong Kong s museum are unable to provide large amount of service for public. Only few of the museum contain docent programme which is for group of visitors and the language is Cantonese. It is inconvenient for visitors speaking other language. Therefore, these individual visitors need to reserve fixed schedule docent programme before they visit the museum. In this project, we try to enhance visitors experience during museum visit with a mobile application that can be the visitor's personal guide. To achieve it, developing a beacon indoor positioning technology based tour guide application is needed. To develop the application, Bluetooth in mobile phone and beacon are useful for us. Bluetooth positioning technique is a wireless technology to broadcast signal in adjustable distance. Beacon is a device that can broadcast signal continuously, and data from the signal can be customizable and be used for interacting with other devices. Therefore, this application allows user to know their current position and the information of display involved in the current area while visiting museum through beacon and Bluetooth. This application benefits both visitors and museums. As a tour guide, it provides a new experience for different languages visitors while they are visiting museum. It will draw the public attention on museum thereby, and more people will visit the museums. Also, the museum can make use of the application to increase incomes from visitors and the population. 42 Classification of Short Answers for Semi-Automated Grading and Feedback in Online Assessment Skynet ALT TSUI Yiu Chuen, Calvin LAI Ka Wai, Vico CHENG Mang Kwan, Leo Supervised by Dr. Andrew Lui In this project, we present a semi-automated grading short answer questions algorithm. In our observation, the grading process is time consuming because of the large number of students in a course. Also, the grading will be inconsistent due to different graders. Our project provides a new way for instructors to grade the short answer more efficiently. The method is to cluster the answers into different groups. Instead of grading all the answers, the graders just need to grade the representatives in the answer group. It can save instructors effort as they do not need to grade hundreds or thousands of answers. The most important value is that it can ensure the consistency about grading. Thus, the instructional quality of online learning can improve, and students are easier to get academic success. A few prior research studies suggested that students answer could be grouped by the similarity for more efficient and consistent grading. Answers that share common features will be considered as similar. Based on the common features, the answers will be clustered into different groups. Some representatives will be selected from each cluster for grading. Those representatives are considered equivalent to answer in a group with regards to grading. Therefore, instructors only need to grade the representative answers and it can apply to all the answer in the same group. Finally, this algorithm can contribute to develop a semiautomated grading and feedback system in the later stage. 43 An Integrated and Interactive Solution for Academic Conferences SSC CHAN King Lam, King LAU Kam Wa, Louis TANG Sin Hang, Kenny Supervised by Dr. Keith Lee This project presents a mobile application called GoConf as a solution for the host of academic conference to improve their interaction with conference participants. We observed that the host has method to handle participant needs and address problems which exist in holding an academic conference, but those are not the best solutions. Host needs to spend more effort, time and money for handling information, communication and notification such as providing more workers for help if the participant had strayed, publishing large amount of information and proceeding to participants which is not portable and convenient, notifying the latest update to participants through broadcast announcements which can be easily missed, and communicating with participants through which may be missed if they do not check . GoConf integrates three aspects of system which are information system, global positioning system and communication system. Information system provides conference s information and provides a function for notification in order to show it clearly and allow the users find it readily and easily. Global positioning system provides geolocation and time information to let the users find the destination easily. Communication system works as a social platform to allow the user chat with others conveniently that participants communicate with hosts and each participant instantly. Our target user is the conference host. We hope to introduce a new method into academic conference to improve performances for the host that it helps to optimize participants experience. 44 Claustrophobia with Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) in Hong Kong Team Vision KO Wing Yui, Vincent CHAN Ka Fai, Charles LAM Ki Kit, Kelvin Supervised by Dr. Vanessa Ng In Hong Kong, there are people suffering from claustrophobia. Claustrophobia is a mental disorder that the person gets scared in an enclosed space. Exposure therapy is a kind of therapy to deal with the phobia. However, it is costly. Therefore, we want to replace exposure therapy with Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET). In this project, we develop an application as a tool to treat claustrophobia with smart phone and VR glasses. In the application, user is required to experience a simulation of enclosed space such as lift and tunnel. Once he/she completes the tasks in the simulation, the scoreboard will be shown. The user is diagnosed as claustrophobic or not depending on the result in the scoreboard. Then, the user will be classified as normal person, mild, moderate or severe claustrophobic. Some people are claustrophobic but they do not notice that. The application can serve as a platform to find the potential patients and help them to recover from it. Virtual Reality is a new approach to deal with mental health nowadays. However, it is not popular to use VR technology to treat mental disorder in Hong Kong. We hope the application can help people to recover from claustrophobia and arouse the social awareness towards the treatment of mental disease with VR technology. 47 Mobile Learning in Hand Acupoints with Augmented Reality Toolman CHAN Pui Yu, Crystal HUNG Siu Kit, Simon YU Kin Ying, Virginia Supervised by Dr. Vanessa Ng This is a mobile application to enhance the learning efficiency and effectiveness on hand acupoints. Acupoints are reaction points on human body from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As far as we know, learning acupoints is very difficult due to the difficulty in locating acupoints as well as the challenge in memorizing a huge quantity of information. To locate acupoints, we add a virtual 3D model into physical world through special signatures. Learners can view actual acupoints position through rotation of the model, either rotating the signatures or moving slider below the model. A more concrete image description appears. Learners can get more inspiration on the positioning. To memorise acupoints, more advanced information can be released after pressing the acupoints on the model with Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. This kind of interactions can improve the degree of entertainment as well as learning efficiency since interactions and graphical information are easier to memorise. Applying what we learnt is one of the important elements in learning. To practice, quizzes provided in the mobile application help learners to apply their knowledge in acupoints and strengthen their memory everywhere. Even they would like to revise in a less direct way, a simple consultation is provided. They can search useful acupoint details according to different kinds of symbols. This application employs elements in 3D and AR, which is rare in educational application, especially for enhancing learners learning motivation. 48 Application of Bowling Pose Analysis for Performance Improvement and Injury Avoidance Travel King MAN Chun Kit, Mark HO Wing Lim, William Supervised by Mr. Raymond Wong In this project, we implement a mobile application for detecting whether bowler s pose is correct so as to achieve injury avoidance and performance improvement. We observed that most of injuries in bowling are caused by using wrong pose, and the bowlers often lose because of using wrong pose. Therefore, we decide to solve the problem by using pose detection to help bowlers to reduce the probability of getting hurt while improving their bowling skill. To participate, users will install a mobile application on their smart phones and launch its camera for detection. When the bowler throws the ball, the application detects bowler s pose through camera. The target to detect is the arm angle of the bowler. The application will check whether the bowler s arm angle is within the correct range and the analysis process can be recorded. After detection, bowler is allowed to check the analysis result by viewing back the analysis video, so that bowler can know if there is any improvement of his pose. By repeatedly using this application, bowlers will have some improvement on the pose, since each time he throws the ball, his friend can use this application to check his pose. It is hoped that with a habit of using correct pose in bowling, the injury number can be reduced and the bowler s performance when playing bowling will be better.
