The Job Outlook The Occupational Outlook Handbook from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics says the outlook for medical transcriptionists in the United States is good. More than half of transcriptionists still work on site in hospitals or in medical practices, but the opportunities for telecommuting are increasing. Employers in the United States in medical facilities prefer certified transcriptionists who have completed training courses. Often, prior experience in the medical field is a plus.
