8 CUI Targets and Goals Written Communication Students compose focused and coherent written content; organize and logically develop their ideas; find, analyze and integrate appropriate sources; and demonstrate facility in discipline- or genrespecific conventions of writing.
9 CUI Targets and Goals Oral Communication Students make verbal presentations in which they articulate a central message, organize main ideas, integrate appropriate supporting information, employ language appropriate for the topic and audience, and utilize delivery techniques that enhance the presentation.
10 CUI Targets and Goals Systematic Inquiry Students explain a problem, articulate a (hypo)thesis, investigate using appropriate sources, analyze the information, and craft logical conclusions and creative solutions to the problem.

16 Adjunct Faculty Handbook Highlights COURSE SYLLABUS Templates for course syllabi are available: Ask your Department Chair or Dean Your syllabus should contain your attendance policy, a statement on academic honesty and a statement on academic accommodations. You are required to distribute the syllabus and any other course outline materials at the first class meeting The syllabus is your contract with the students.
17 Highlights (cont.) CLASS ROSTER(S) Class rosters for the course(s) you will be teaching are to be accessed through MyRecords. The class roster is unofficial during the first two weeks of the semester. After the census date (the end of the second full week) your rosters are considered official. Any discrepancies between the official roster and your own records should be corrected immediately by contacting the Registrar s Office (Grimm Hall 1 st Floor, ext. 3079). All students on your roster must be given a grade at the end of the semester. Do not leave a student ungraded!
18 Highlights (cont.) Adds and Drops Please check with your dean or department chair for school procedures on adding students to your class. Please review and familiarize yourself with the university s add/drop policy. All adds and drops require proper documentation. Students are responsible for proper adding/dropping Do not tell student that you will drop them from the roster
19 Highlights (cont.) Final Exams All instructors are expected to meet and give some type of final exam during finals week. See the CUI website for the final exam schedule. Academic Warnings Concordia prides itself on maintaining effective communication with its students. Academic warnings provide a means for instructor communication with students having academic difficulties in their class. Academic warnings are given via MyRecords.
