Compensation Management and Variable Pay By Sailesh Mistry, Project Manager, ROC One of the major enhancements is an exciting leap forward in the integration possibilities between Employee Central and the Compensation module. The functionality is called Custom Views and eliminates the need for planners to navigate away from a form to reference any employee data held within Employee Central. When setting up a plan, an administrator will have the ability to select from a defined list of People Profile (PP3) or Employee Profile (v12) portlets which will then be displayed on the worksheets or via Executive Review. A sample screenshot of what this will look like is shown below: This could bring in a number of efficiencies for customers who have created custom columns to provide supporting information for planners, but the level of usability will be on a case-by-case basis. As an example, if there is only one piece of information 1
2 needed from the Job Info Portlet in Employee Central, it may be cumbersome for a planner to look for this on a portlet view rather than holding it in a custom column on a form. Regardless this is a fantastic leap forward in the integration between modules and I look forward to giving this a try and seeing how it develops. The next major enhancement to call out is for the Executive Review Filters, which up until now have always been limited to those linked to standard fields. After this release up to 3 custom fields can now be selected for use within the filters available in Executive Review which will be fantastic for all those customers that have been requesting this for some time. The small print however is that this is currently only available for those customers who are not integrated with Employee Central and requires a v12 form. Hopefully we will see this being developed into something applicable for all those that have solutions integrated with Employee Central. Additionally, in this release there are a number of minor enhancements which build upon existing functionality and previous enhancements. A couple of the highlights to note are listed below: Expand/Collapse Column Groups o Administrators can now choose which column groups are either expanded or collapsed by default when opening a form. In addition to this you can now select which column is displayed when collapsed, which removes the need to reorder columns when you do not wish to. Display Settings o Previously changing things like the Pay Range format and whether to include a Total could only be done from the XML. As with every 2
3 release we are seeing more and more control being moved into the front-end administration and into new sections, which is great to see. Finally as mentioned in the previous blog, it should be noted that from Q2 2018, all customers will automatically have the V12 forms enabled and all enhancements are now being made on this version. Anyone using previous versions should consider moving to V12 as soon as possible. Full details of the Q4 release are available on the SuccessFactors community, but in the meantime I hope this gives you a preview of some of the highlights. 3
4 2. Learning Management By Jakub Krolikowski, Consultant, ROC In this Q4 release, we have a significant number of new features in the SAP SuccessFactors Learning module. The most important of them are connected with creating a better visual experience for users and data privacy (a consistent theme across this quarters updates). This Q4 release introduces new Course Home for preview environments, this will be a comprehensive multi -release project. They have also added new functionalities to Catalogs and to mobile apps for the Android and ios operating systems. SAP still improves Data Privacy in SuccessFactors, so Q4 release brings further enhancements of that. In the bucket of smaller upgrades, we have got some further improvement of functionalities. Let s have a closer look into the new innovations and updates. Course Home In Q4 2017, they have introduced Course Home a new item in preview environments only, that redesign the learner experience for launching courses, checking progress in courses, and completing courses. Goals for this enhancement include: fewer clicks to launch the course, more intuitive to the users, providing required information without overwhelming them, collaboration without navigating to multiple screens, discoverability. 4
5 As we can see on the pictures above there is a newly designed Course Landing Page with easy access to course details, content, and community. Directly in LMS users can view the feed and reply for posts in Jam group connected with the Item. Another new feature is Course Player and content navigation. Course Player allows different variations of playing the course: either full screen (with or without content structure) or via a new window. Customers will now be able to easy navigate in Content structure by adding folders, that can be collapsed and expanded on all the views. In Course Home, user will not see a yellow box when launching online content. On launch course, it plays the first incomplete Content object and the system will also remind the user if they try to launch the course again. However, as previously stated the first release (multi-release project) of Course Home will not be enabled in production environments (only in test environments) and will only be available for online courses. There are also other Item level attributes that are not supported in this release: Courses that have a price in Commerce. 5
6 Courses with government reporting Courses with legacy exams and assessments Courses that have set up a custom content player on content object. Courses that have Approvals Courses that have a prerequisite group, Courses that generate a survey when it ends Courses that use E-Signatures. More features will come in the upcoming releases. Feedback for shared features can be provided on community. Catalogs In the upcoming release, SuccessFactors has changed the display of cards in catalog search results. If customers are not using rating, commerce and or hours, there is a lot of white space on the cards. SuccessFactors reacted to this feedback and from this release the users will no longer see the white space. SuccessFactors have also improved the searching in catalogs. Customers will be able to configure prefix characters to be ignored in single keyword searches to handle naming conventions. For example, they can configure the search to ignore a square brace: [ - when users search for the string PM-GM, the search finds PM-GM but it also finds [PM-GM. 6
7 Mobile enchantments Another great set of functionalities added by SuccessFactors in this release is three mobile ios & Android enhancements: Mobile Enabled Content - users can easily determine from the Item description in My Assignments and catalog searches which content is designed and enabled for Mobile User Evaluation Surveys - can now be accessed and completed from within My Assignments on the mobile application 7
8 E-Signatures - Users can now access and submit their E-Signatures for items that require an electronic signature Data Privacy Enhancements In relation to GDPR in line with other updates across the suite; new functionality is available for SuccessFactors Learning: User Exclusion List - Exclusion users from the Purge Deleted User Audit History automatic process. Now when customers need to retain their audit history (for example in the case of a legal or audit issue), they can add that user to the Exclusion List. QuickGuide Supports Deletion of Author - When users are deleted from SAP SuccessFactors Learning, their QuickGuides remain in the system so that other users can still learn from the QuickGuides, but the users' personal information is removed; they no longer appear as the author of the QuickGuide. 8
9 User Personal Information Report / BizXAdmin runs User Personal Data Report - This feature provides admins a way to generate a report that informs a user about the personal data stored in the LMS. User Information Change Report - This feature provides admins a way to generate a report that informs a user about the changes made to their personal data stored in the LMS. Other enhancements SuccessFactors has expanded the reporting capabilities by enabling Content level tracking for Spanish Reporting, that allows reporting on the amount of time that users spent with online learning courses. In Q SuccessFactors also updates the SAPUI5 components in the Learning Administrator Gamification pages to keep current with the UI libraries. The advantage of this is improvement of user experience. 9
10 Answering to a Customer Community idea, the Question ID length in the Question library will be increased from 30 to 100. The 30-character limit created issues for some customers when they brought legacy questions into Question Library. The workaround was to manually edit the question ID to shorten it. Now, Question Library questions can also be 100 characters. OData APIs enhancements, that allows return the status of that curricula, when a curriculum ID is provided and include the item details of the current curriculum. So far curricula status API has expected curricula id as input parameter that some customers have found restrictive and there have been no support for getting details of all the items in a given curricula which is available to the user in a single call. Minor Enhancements Along with these enhancements, there are minor changes that I did not include: Improve import tool performance - as part of the improved performance, we no longer allow adding and updating a record in the same import file 10
11 View of Organization description on all the users on the scheduled offering - administrators also see the organisation description so that they can get a clearer sense of the users' organisations Removed the Java Applets from Offline Player In this release, when the process runs, it records "System APM" as the user who updated the affected records. In addition, the "last run user label was renamed to Last Scheduled By in the connector automatic process pages. Updated the SAP SuccessFactors Learning User Metric report and Learning users to distinguish between functional users and active users. 11
