2 COURSE New perspectives in Spanish Language and Culture Teaching-Learning at Elementary and High School (Level Proficiency- C1) UNIVERSITY Alcalá DIRECTOR Dra. This program will be fully focused on the context of primary and secondary education and developed through workshops in which reflection and teamwork will be essential. COURSE AIMS Participants will: To get familiar with the linguistic, historical, literary and artistic Spanish environment. To update, improve and enrich the skills and teaching skills for the training of children and adolescents in the field of Hispanic language and culture. To know and develop innovative teaching practices, in line with the new socio-educational reality and the new needs of students. To identify the most outstanding events of the Spanish history. To present the characteristics of the main Spanish artistic currents and their most relevant authors. To acquire an adequate knowledge of the Spanish literary panorama of the last years as well as didactic tools for its teaching. To know the socio-political situation of contemporary Spain and its most prominent protagonists. CONTENT/TOPIC AND OUTLINE FOR EACH SESSION From Monday 9 th July to Friday 13th 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Optional subjects to choose one by the participants: - Development of skills and communication skills - Contemporary history. Farewell wine SYSTEM OF EVALUATION: GRADING CRITERIA AND ACTIVITIES The evaluation will take into consideration the assistance to classes, confirmed daily by a signing list, and the presentation of a short essay on the impressions created during the course or any of the contents developed. The factors to be taken into consideration for the evaluation are the following: Assistance to classes: 60% Final essay: 40% The final essay must be submitted during the last week of the course, between Monday 23 rd and Friday 27 th of July. It is an essential requirement for obtaining the Diploma. DUE DATES OF MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS, PROJECTS AND EXAMINATIONS The final tasks must be submitted during the last week of the course. 4 TEXTS AND REQUIRED READING LISTS The classroom materials will be provided by teachers. Part of the extra materials will be available online and part in the libraries of the University. TRANSFER OF SKILLS TO THE WORKPLACE To enable participatory classes in which both the interest and knowledge of the subject, as well as the critical spirit through the analysis and commentary of works and artistic periods, are promoted. To facilitate the procedures to be able to transform knowledge into competences and be able to transfer them to elementary and high school classrooms. To know some of the most important means available to the Spanish Language and Culture teacher for their training. DIRECTOR CURRUCULUM ANA BLANCO CANALES Professor in the Department of Philology at the University of Alcalá. She has given Teacher Training Courses at different institutions and universities abroad (Brazil, Greece, Switzerland, Poland, Santo Domingo) and in other Spanish (Universidad de Las Palmas, teacher training centers, college graduates and PhDs). His research interests are: 1) Sociolinguistics, 2) Spanish as a foreign language, 3) Language for specific purposes. He has published articles in various journals, lectured in several conferences and communications and participated in various research projects. She has participated as coordinator and editor on numerous materials for teaching Spanish, including dreams and Fly (Editorial Anaya) Professional Spanish Collection: Business, Tourism, Health Sciences and Spanish Law; collection Encuentros. Spanish for immigrants (both collections released by the SPUAH). CECILIA DE SANTISTEBAN GUTIÉRREZ As well as Bachelor's degrees in humanities and in tourism, Cecilia holds Master's degrees in secondary and vocational education and in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. In addition to having worked in several Spanish language schools for foreigners in Madrid and in the Franklin Institute for North American Studies at the University of Alcalá de Henares, she has also given teacher training courses for Spanish language and Hispanic studies teachers in the Cervantes Institute and in Alcalingua- University of Alcalá. Well experienced in the creation of educational materials for both online and offline language courses, her interests include different ways and means of teaching Spanish to nonnative speakers and the development of study and language tourism. GABINO BOQUETE MARTÍN Dr. Gabino Boquete Martín holds a B.A. in Arts at School of Drama, B.A. in English Philology at the University of Alcalá, Master in Spanish as a Foreign Language and Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at the University of Alcalá. He has been a teacher of Spanish as Foreign Language at Alcalingua University of Alcalá, from 2003 to 2005, and currently is the responsible for International Relations in this centre. He has imparted several courses of different editions of the Master in Spanish as a Second Language in Alcalingua as well as in the Master in Teaching Spanish as First and Second Language in the APEC University (Santo Domingo). He is regularly involved in teacher training courses organized by Instituto Cervantes. His research interests include the teaching of Phonetics in Spanish as Foreign Language classes, the recreational component in the classroom, the application of theatrical techniques, motivation and group dynamics.
5 MARTA F. NOGUEROLES LÓPEZ Marta F. Nogueroles López received her PhD in Spanish Language and Literature and her MA in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Alcalá as well as her BA in English Studies at the University of Alicante. She taught at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and at The University of Hong Kong. She also worked as a developer of language learning materials for the online community for learning languages busuu.com, and as a socio-cultural and sports coordinator at CIEE (Council on International Exchange Education). She is currently a lecturer at the University of Copenhagen. Her academic interests and research areas are language learning strategies, listening comprehension in L2 and auditory phonetics and speech perception. SARA CORTÉS Master's Degree in University Teaching by the University of Alcalá. European Doctorate in the Program "Psychological Development, Learning and Education: Contemporary Perspectives" by the University of Alcalá. (Interuniversity Program UAM, UNED, UAH distinguished with mention of quality of the MEC) Currently, she is a professor in the area of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising of the Department of Philology, Communication and Documentation of the University of Alcalá. It investigates the role of new technologies, communication tools and video games as cultural tools aimed at developing new literacies in a global world. Her main lines of research focus on the analysis of the creation of new educational spaces where new technologies become literacy practices and the construction of identity when children and adolescents work or play with technological means. She is a researcher at UAH's "Images, Words and Ideas Group" She has been a scholar at the LCMI (Languages, Culture, Media and Identities) at the University of Luxembourg and the GLS (Games + Learning + Society) at the University of Madison ( Wisconsin, USA). Collaborates with research groups from other universities such as the Autonomous University of Madrid and the National University of Distance Education (UNED). In addition, she works as coordinator and designer of the web pages of ANA CASAS Ana Casas has taught at the universities of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), Autónoma de Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra. Researcher Ramón y Cajal of Spanish Literature at the University of Alcalá until 2017; She is currently a professor in the area of Literature at the same University. She has conducted research stays at the National University of San Marcos (Lima) and at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Specialist in contemporary Spanish narrative, she is the author, among others, of The Spanish story in the postwar period. Presence of the short story in the literary magazines (2007), The autofiction. Theoretical Reflections (ed., 2012) and The Fabulous Self. New critical approaches to selffiction (ed., 2014). He directs Pasavento. Journal of Hispanic Studies ( and is IP of the funded research project "Hispanic autofiction ( ). Interdisciplinary and transmedia perspectives "(FFI P). GISELE ZEGNA Giselle Zenga-Hirsch is a professor of Spanish, Portuguese and Politics and Economics, having graduated from the National Superior Institute of Teachers in Lengua Vivas, Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). In this last university also obtained the Diploma of Master (Magister) in Romance Philology and Sociology. At the moment he writes his doctoral thesis in Didactics of ELE on the subject "The teaching of Spanish in linguistic and culturally diverse groups". She is a researcher, trainer and teacher with vast experience in a wide range of subjects of foreign language teaching, among which are highlighted Competence and standards, Objectives and contents, Media, Materials and Methods, Learning Processes and Individualization of teaching and the didactic game. She currently teaches language and didactics of foreign languages at secondary and university level, organizes and runs colloquiums, conferences and publications.
6 CECILIA SANTISTEBAN B.A in Humanities and Diploma in Tourism, Master in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and Master in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Professional Training and Language Teaching, in the specialty of Spanish Language and Literature. He has worked in different academies in Madrid and collaborated in the creation of didactic materials for Spanish courses online and in person. His areas of interest are methodology and activities in the classroom of ELE and language tourism and its development. SONIA ADEVA She holds B.A in English Philology from the University of Alcalá (UAH), an official master's degree in e- learning in the branch of Project Management by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, with doctoral courses in Applied Linguistics. She has participated, as teacher trainer and coordinator, in courses and masters of national and international institutions. Professor of Language and Culture in Alcalingua and academic coordinator in that institution. She has been tutor of the Spanish Virtual Classroom (AVE) program at Instituto Cervantes. Co-author of the Encuentros manual. Spanish for immigrants B1 (UAH). She has collaborated as author of materials and in the digital programming of the online course Mejor Imposible' of Alcalingua-UAH. She is currently Academic Coordinator of Alcalingua UAH.
