Help students understand the impact brought by new media technology to news profession and society. Enhance students knowledge in basic mass communication and journalism theories by integrating my research and scholarship into teaching. Cultivate critical thinking on important issues and media profession from journalism lens. LAB INSTRUCTOR. Course: Digital Storytelling, 4 semesters, UT-Austin Hold weekly lab to teach multimedia production and news writing (include AP styles) for multimedia platforms based on individual and group projects. Provide intensive training in multimedia software including Photoshop, Audacity, FinalCutPro, Soundslides, etc., and web publishing using WordPress, CSS and HTML. Provide students toolkits in social media communication on how to generate and disseminate information through various social media platforms. Course: Graphic Design for Online and Print, 1 semester, UT-Austin Help students develop an advanced understanding of visual communication and design for online media through individual projects and portfolios. Strengthen their knowledge in components of design and how to apply these principles and theories. Train them to create a variety of pages suited for publication using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and produce a polished portfolio for presentation. TEACHING ASSITANT Course: Freedom: Philosophy, History and Law (Undergrad Signature Class), 2 semesters Professor: Prof. Robert Jensen Lead discussion section and grade papers. Cultivate students to become critical thinker of freedom and political/social system in the U.S. and around the world. Train students to think and write with historical and global perspectives. At the same time, encourage them to link abstract concepts with personal experience. Improve students interpersonal communication skills and teach them how to give persuasive public speech. Course: New Communication Technologies: Trends and Impact (Graduate level), 1 semester Professor: Louis Leung Help prepare lecture notes, PowerPoints, assignments and coordinate class discussion. Examine varying theoretical perspectives related to the future trends and current uses and impacts of information technologies and services. Provide a foundation for graduate students to conceptualize the factors that lead people to use communication technologies, the needs that these technologies fulfill, and the effects of such use on individuals, organizations and society.
