2 From Director s Desk 2 The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Institute of Engineering & Technology Shimla is second Govt. Institute set up by the Government of Himachal Pradesh with a view to expand access to high quality technical education for young bright minds of India. ABVGIET Shimla was established in the year 2012 and has been in operation for more than four years. The first batch of students graduated with a B.Tech. degree in July ABVGIET Shimla has all required infrastructure, including highly qualified faculty members and well-equipped laboratories, for hands on experience. Students are exposed to the most modern and up-to-date curriculum and contemporary developments in various disciplines of engineering. In addition to developing excellent scientific and engineering skills our graduates have been molded into well-rounded personalities, given their exposure to working as teams on projects, developing presentation and communication skills, and actively participating in extracurricular activities. 4 About ABVGIET Shimla 4 ABVGIET Shimla was established in the year 2012 with an aim to produce world class engineers who would establish themselves in the higher echelons of any field they venture into. It began with offering B.Tech. degrees in two mainstream engineering disciplines, namely, Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering at Pragatinagar, Tehsil Kotkhai, District Shimla (H.P). The institute excels in myriad fields of study at undergraduate levels. The Second batch of the institute will graduate in May 2017 and it is a matter of great pleasure for the institute to take this opportunity to invite potential companies to experience and evaluate the dexterities, competency, skills and talent of our students and absorb them into their esteemed organizations.

5 5 About ABVGIET Shimla Continued It is the Second Regional Engineering College of HP. It is the only regional college which offers degree in Computer Science & Engineering. Presently, the Institute is running four year degree programmes in CSE & ECE. These programmes are approved by AICTE New Delhi and is also affiliated to HPTU Hamirpur. Students got admission in this College on the basis of JEE Main & HPCET. College has its own central Library, Wi-Fi Campus, Canteen, Hostel and Transport facilities etc. Most of the students are well placed with Companies such as Wipro etc. Most of the Students have qualified GATE 2016.

6 CSE Department The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a pioneering academic center for education at undergraduate level. The vision of the department is to strengthen student's excellence in the world of Computer Engineering. The main objective of the department is to prepare students for software technology industry, educational institutions and research organizations. 6 Vision of department To become a centre of excellence and to produce high quality, self motivated, creative and ethical engineers and technologists, contributing effectively to universal science and contemporary education. Mission of department M1. To adopt the best pedagogical methods in order to maximize knowledge transfer. M2. To produce professional technocrat by acquiring adequate mechanism for escalating the implementation of theoretical concepts in practical scenarios and to inculcate the spirit of moral values with the view to create good citizens of India M3. To have adequate mechanisms to enhance understanding of implementation of theoretical concepts in practical scenarios.

7 7 ECE Department The electronics and communication department of our college holds prominent position in the degree programme as it constantly favors encouragement of students to diversify their perspective. This department of ABVGIET continuously trains students to be selfmotivated Electronics and Communication Engineer with a very high moral. This department withholds 60 seats for every batch. 8 8 Programme Educational Objectives PROGRAM OUTCOME PEO-1 To acquire a strong background in basic science and mathematics and ability to use these tools in electronics and communication engineering. PEO-2 To attain professional excellence through life-long learning. PEO-3 To attain the qualities of professional leadership to deliver effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and domains. PO1. Students should be able to solve problems through analytical thinking PO2. Students should be able to employ necessary techniques, hardware and software tools for engineering applications. PO3. Student should be able to design a system, component and process to meet the needs within realistic restraints such as economic, environmental, social, ethical, health and safety. PO4. Students should be able to synthesize solutions for existing problems within practical constraints. PO5. Students should be able to write project proposals, devise implementation strategies and plan execution.

9 Facilities LIBRARY The library has got the seating capacity of 50 readers in reading halls. It provides various text books, Journals, magazines, news papers and study material for competitive exams etc. 9 TRANSPORT The Institute has its own bus to conduct the Educational Tours of students. The Institute provides free bus services for the benefit of students. HOSTEL College provides hostel for Girls where the food served is nutritious and the menu is decided by the students themselves. It has solar heating system, badminton court and table tennis tables. Wi-Fi CAMPUS The Institute provides free wi-fi for the students, faculty and staff. GUEST HOUSE A furnished Guest House overlooking the Giri Ganga river and apple trees is available for the parents and visiting experts. CANTEEN It serves different nutritious meals as per the needs of the students, faculty and staff.

10 Facilities GENESIS Genesis is Cultural cum Tech Fest that brings together all students of ABVGIET & of other institutions. It offers excellent opportunities, converting very wide range of cultural and technical activities 10 WOMEN CELL ABVGIET has a Women Cell. It helps the girl students and female staff of the Institute to address their grievances regarding violence & harassment cases, if any. It also makes them aware about their rights and women empowerment. SPORTS The institute is not only well known for academic excellence but also offers excellent opportunities, converting very wide range of sports activities. The institute provides sports facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. At Institute level inter year and inter branch matches in variety of games form the regular sports event of the year.

11 Placement Procedure 11 T&P Cell invites companies Interested companies contact T&P Cell at Company sends the duly filled Job Announcement Form(JAF) The dates for campus interviews are allotted on the basis of information provided in JAF CVs of the applicants are made available to the company concerned for short listing Interested students register for the company online through the website The company visits the campus and conducts its pre-placement talk (PPT) Suitable date for the Pre Placement Talk is decided and students are notified The company mails the list of short listed students to the T&P Cell prior to the final interviews The company visits the campus for placements on the allotted date and conducts its final selection procedure The company furnishes the final list of selected students on the same day
