2 ABOUT THE COURSE ABOUT OUR TUTORS Running in partnership with London College of Communication, this course offers a unique step towards studying at university or gaining employment. This course is aimed at adult learners, 19 years or over, returning to education. It covers a full range of modern digital media technologies in both practical and theoretical aspects, including: filmmaking, animation, photography, web design, publishing and graphic design. All of our tutors are experienced filmmakers, animators, graphic designers, photographers and artists. They are industry experts and experienced, qualified teachers who bring reallife expertise to the classroom. They will work with you closely to develop your skills and help you build a strong portfolio to show off your emerging skills and intersts. 2

4 FACILITIES COURSE TIMETABLE 4 Photography and Film is taught in our professional studio: a flexible space specifically designed for photogrphy, filmmaking, postproduction and printing. The studio is equipped with Elinchrom lighting and 16 MacBook Pro laptops with retina display. Cameras are available for use in class time. Apple Airplay allows for wireless display via our projector and a separate area allows for high-end, large format photographic printing and scanning. Digital Design is taught in a large, bright digital design suite with 14 wide-screen imacs, all loaded with the very latest Adobe Creative Cloud software. Plan, shoot and produce your own film Add and modify sound/music to your film sequence DIGITAL ANIMATION Using After Effects learn how to animate 2D and 3D designs, adding sound and special effects. Plan and produce your own animation sequence and upload it online to a worldwide audience. SPECIAL EFFECTS Use powerful compositing tools to create effects for film and animation. Plan and produce effects sequences to a professional standard. Develop creative post-production skills. PUBLISHING Look at typographic and image techniques in a range of media publications. Produce layouts of word and image for various publications, experimenting with composition and style. Produce a multipage document and publish online. 6
7 PHOTOGRAPHY USING A DIGITAL SLR CAMERA learning key functions and controls Set up studio lighting and produce a range of images Use different lenses and techniques to try out a range of effects. IMAGE EDITING DIGITAL IMAGES - MANIPULATION & OUTPUT Look at manipulation of images in the media and the effect this has on audience. Manipulate a series of images, using extreme processing techniques and filters to change narrative and meaning. PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT LOCATION PORTRAITURE Organise equipment and personnel for a location shoot. Plan and photograph a shoot on location. Download and edit final contact sheets. Post produce and present work. EMPLOYMENT SKILLS PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY PRACTICE CREATIVE & DIGITAL MEDIA COURSE PROGRAMME Get the most out of your camera equipment, Organise and produce your own planned photographic project. Explore digital imaging evolotion, both still and moving, comparing images captured using a range of input devices. PROPAGANDA IN ART & DESIGN Explore the origins of art propaganda in the 20th century. Look at how visual propaganda has been used and developed to promote political messages. Create your own propaganda material PORTFOLIO PREPARATION Prepare an online showreel and portfolio of work to present to clients. There is also a Santander Cycle Hire docking station in King Edward Walk, which is next to the main College site: By car Morley is located within London s Congestion Charging Zone.
