Page3 Slide If you could live in any type of housing, where would you live? Why would you choose it? In the next few slides, we will look at a variety of different places to live. :
Page4 Slide Some of you may choose to live in a house. A house can provide you with more space and more independence without the close neighbors that apartment living can bring. A house can also offer greenery through yard space. :
Page5 Slide Renting an apartment has the wonderful benefit of a maintenance staff to take care of regular upkeep throughout the complex. :
Page6 Slide 6 Copyright Texas Education Agency, All Rights reserved. 6 If renting an apartment or owning your own home is not for you, then will you live with your parents forever? The likelihood you will live with your family forever is unlikely. So, where will you live? :
Page7 Slide Now that you have started to think about the type of housing you will have, where do you envision that housing to be? Imagine you could live anywhere in the world. Will you live in the city, or the country? Which city? What state? What country? :
Page8 Slide Are there any other places you might consider living? :
Page9 Slide Now that you have your dream home in mind, how will you drive around town? :
Page10 Slide Will you bike around town, while at the same time enjoying fresh air and exercising? :
Page11 Slide Will you take advantage of the city s public transportation system? :
Page12 Slide 12 Copyright Texas Education Agency, All Rights reserved. 12 Or, will you get a fancy sports car? :
Page13 Slide 13 Copyright Texas Education Agency, All Rights reserved. 13 :
Page14 Slide 14 Copyright Texas Education Agency, All Rights reserved. 14 What type of vehicle are you most interested in? :
Page15 Slide 15 Copyright Texas Education Agency, All Rights reserved. 15 Or, do you prefer to walk to be eco-friendly and health conscience? :
Page16 Slide In order to have the home and car of your dreams, how will you afford it? How will you accomplish your goals? :
Page17 Slide Your education, starting now, is a huge part of reaching your goals. :
Page18 Slide :
Page19 Slide School and community involvement look appealing to colleges and potential employers. It shows active participation in organizations, leadership and dedication to service learning. :
Page20 Slide After high school, many students continue their education. What plans do you have after high school? :
Page21 Slide Some students will choose on-the-job training about a specific job that will enable them to begin work immediately. :
Page22 Slide Other students will attend a two-year community college nearby to home. This helps students save money by living at home and paying lower tuition fees. :
Page23 Slide Some students will go immediately to a four-year university away from home. This is a good choice for students who are ready to begin living away from home. :
Page24 Slide Another option that some students may choose is a career and technical school. This type of training is short-term and job specific. :
Page25 Slide If you choose to attend college in state, you will be able to take advantage of lower tuition fees. :
Page26 Slide If you choose to attend college out-of-state, you will have to pay additional fees. :
Page27 Slide Just like out-of-state fees, there many also be out-of-the-country fees for attending college out of the country. However, this can be a great way to see more areas of the world. :
Page28 Slide Others may decide the military is the route for them. Which branch might you be interested in? Why? :
Page29 Slide Most careers require that you be a life-long learner. This means that you would continue to learn about your career to make sure you have the most up-to-date information in your field of interest. Teachers, doctors, lawyers, and more all require employees to continue their education regularly. :
Page30 Slide What option will you choose for your education? Is a college degree in your future? :
Page31 Slide 31 AA? MA? BA? Ph.D.? BS? Other? Which type of degree will you choose? :
Page32 Slide Take time to think about your needs, wants and desires with a friend. How do you see your life in 5 years? 10 years? :
Page33 Slide :
Page34 Slide It is never too early to begin planning your future. Now is the time to start thinking of your wants, needs and desires. If you start planning now, you can take charge of your future and reach your goals! :
Page35 Slide Now it is your turn to begin planning your wants, needs and desires. :
