The Summit takes place on the UC San Diego Health Sciences campus, including classrooms in the SSPPS Pharmaceutical Sciences Building and the state of the art simulation exam rooms at The Simulation Training Center at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. We look forward to meeting pharmacists from international sites and working together to build collaborations in education, clinical service, and research! Program Goals: This Summit is designed for international pharmacists to further develop their clinical pharmacy knowledge and preceptor skills to effectively teach in a clinical environment. The programmatic goals are to: Enhance clinical knowledge in pharmacy practice areas. Obtain knowledge and skills to establish clinical programs and patient-centered pharmacy practice. Understand and improve teaching styles by adopting successful learner-centered teaching methods, including active learning. Gain direct experience in designing a syllabus for an advanced practice experiential education program (or clerkship / rotation). Improve the understanding of student assessment and regulatory requirements for experiential education. Increase scholarly activities of teaching experiences for the purposes of achieving continuing education and promotion requirements. This Summit consists of didactic lectures provided by experienced faculty and preceptors, an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), hands on experience in mock pharmacy practice and clinical teaching, assignments that will culminate in creating an advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) rotation syllabus, and learning about tools and resources to increase scholarly activities.
