3 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 1. The name you provide will appear identically on all official documents. 2. Indicate your permanent address. Your permanent address is a stable address, which will be valid for a long period of time. This is the address where you may be reached, even if your mailing address changes. Indicate your qualifying examination passed, year of passing, register number, number of appearances and the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations. Photocopies of the mark sheet should be enclosed. Original should be submitted during the time of counselling and admission. 4. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances after the start of classes. The candidate should pay the entire Programme fee minus whatever has been already paid, if he / she discontinues the programme any time after its commencement. 5. SASTRA reserves its right not to conduct a programme, if the response to that particular programme is not sufficient. 6. SASTRA wishes that there be no dispute on any account. However, if there is any dispute the jurisdiction will be Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and only through appropriate Forum. No third party intervention will be entertained under any circumstances. 7. Ragging is a cognizable offence and any form of ragging either inside or outside the campus is totally prohibited. Indulging in ragging will result in expulsion from the University and/or imprisonment up to three years and/or fine up to Rs.25,000/ % (10%+10%) of total intake will be offered to students from Trichy and Thanjavur Districts, provided the applicant has completed both X and XII from any school located in Trichy or Thanjavur District. 50% of the intake will be offered to those who complete X and XII standards in schools within Tamil Nadu (Puducherry included). The remaining 30% will be for students who have completed X and XII outside Tamil Nadu. 9. Information Technology Eligibility for B.Tech. / Integrated M.Tech. programmes: A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtained in a single sitting Students with diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible for direct admission to the second year of the relevant B.Tech. Programme The candidate should not have completed 19 years as on (21 years for Lateral Entry) Admission Procedure: Admissions to the I year B.Tech. Programme will be based on the marks secured in the +2 qualifying examination following the normalization process. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks will be normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant's aggregate is 90% then the applicant's normalized percentage is (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions. This is for 70% of the seats and the remaining 30% will be alloted by SASTRA based on ranks secured in AIEEE A seperate admission procedure will be intimated to the students and interested students have to apply online to be considered under the AIEEE Quota. 7
