10 HISTORY Established in 1846, members of the Medical Society of Milwaukee have made landmark contributions toward healthcare initiatives locally and on the national level. MSMC s physician founders practiced the art of healing while helping to build the Milwaukee community and its traditions. Today, MSMC is comprised of nearly 4,000 physicians. These physicians retain the highest principles, contribute time and resources to ensure quality care for the underserved, mentor pre-med students, while providing thought leadership on critical community issues such as prescription drug abuse.
