The main focus will be based on the following synopsis: financial sector analysis; evaluation of financial markets and instruments; evolution in financial systems in reference to Australia. Students are expected to follow business and finance activities throughout the teaching period. It is important that all students are aware of developments in relation to the financial sector. 7817AFE Income Tax Law This course examines the main taxation revenue raising techniques used by the Australian Commonwealth Government, including income tax, capital gains tax, goods and services tax and fringe benefits tax. The course also concentrates on particular taxation aspects governing different entity types, such as individuals, minors, partnerships, companies and trusts. 7818AFE Fundamentals This course provides an introductory overview of personal financial planning and several of the core components of it. Its primary focus is on developing a strong foundation in financial planning for students who intend to pursue a career in financial services and financial planning. 7819AFE Personal Risk This course examines issues in personal risk management and its application in financial planning. This includes technical content in general, life, health and personal credit insurances and the operation of the insurance industry. Client attitudes and behaviours (including the assessment of these) are also examined within the context of personal financial advice. 7820AFE Applied Financial Building on Fundamentals, this course further develops knowledge of core elements of financial planning. In addition, this course focuses on financial planning skills and practices that underpin successful client-planner relationships. 7821AFE Retirement and Estate Economic events, regulatory reforms and the pace of change are influencing and changing the role of both the Financial Planner and the profession. This course covers the very latest issues and rules that affect the life-cycle processes of preparing for life after work and the efficient distribution of assets after death. 7801AFE Investments This course studies core aspects of equity security analysis and valuation, debt security valuation, security market indices, market efficiency, and portfolio management risk and return. The rapidly changing financial environment and the number of new instruments available have made investment analysis a task which can only be carried out by persons who have been equipped with updated skills. The course covers current advances in the analysis of international capital markets, and presents a range of analytical techniques. 7822AFE Applied Taxation The various aspects that can influence the taxation planning decisions are examined throughout this course. This includes consideration of anti-avoidance; and particular rules concerning the taxation of individuals, trusts and companies, superannuation, small business CGT concessions, fringe benefits tax and salary packaging. 7812AFE Behavioural Finance and Wealth This course aims to provide strong foundation for the role of financial advisors on issues associated to private financial planning. It starts with explanation of behavioural biases of individuals, and how they related to investment process. It covers the topics of asset allocation, taxation, estate planning, low-basis stock, and life-time financial advice. The course also examines the issues surrounding management of investor s portfolios. The course assists with preparation for CFA level 3 examinations. 7823AFE Principles of Business and Corporations Law The central focus of this course is the Australian legal system s foundation, contract law as the basis of commercial dealing, and the Law of Torts, including negligence. Australian company law is also covered, including registration of companies and corporate governance issues. 7824AFE Case Studies in This course is the capstone course for this program and focuses on the application of prior knowledge to the development of the necessary capacity to assess clients needs; prepare, present, evaluate and implement tailored, comprehensive financial plans. Students will also be able to recognise the implications of legal and ethical codes that relate to financial planners and to apply them to their own work activities. 7814AFE Professionalism in Financial Services Students will gain the knowledge of legal matters surrounding financial markets, including securities, derivatives, deposit products, emissions trading units, foreign exchange, margin lending and financial planning. In addition, students will also learn how to navigate other matters surrounding professional financial advisor.
4 Degree structure Our accelerated online Master of consists of 12 courses (120 credit points) that can be completed in two years part-time. Exit with a Graduate Certificate in with 40 credit points or a Graduate Diploma of with 80 credit points. Career opportunities Griffith s financial planning degrees were the first in Australia to be accredited under the new standards set by the FPA. Introduced in 2014, the FPA s standards ensure that financial advisors are properly equipped with the education, knowledge and skills to effectively advise consumers on financial matters. Upon graduation, you will be ready to offer financial advice to individuals and small businesses. Whether you choose to join a firm or strike out on your own this qualification ensures you re prepared for the shifting landscape and regulatory changes within the financial planning industry. Entry requirements To be eligible for admission into the accelerated online Master of, you must hold a related bachelor degree or Graduate Certificate in Financial (or equivalent qualifications) from a recognised University or tertiary institution of equivalent standing with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on a 7.0 scale). No bachelor degree? No worries. You can still do our accelerated online Master of without a degree. Simply complete our accelerated online Graduate Certificate in with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and continue on to finish the remaining eight courses in our Master of.
