For information about Canadian visas, please visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at An official Letter of Acceptance from YUELI and the Offer of Admission to degree studies at York University can be used as part of the Study Permit / Canadian Temporary Resident Visa application procedure. You will receive those letters in Step 4 below. Application Process Step 1 : Submit your Undergraduate Application Online 1. Find York University Online Application at 2. Click APPLY NOW 3. Confirm information provided by pressing Check Application Data 6. Submit your $90CND York University Application Fee by using a credit card 7. You will receive a letter from YUELI with the result. Step 4 : Submit a $3000CND tuition deposit to YUELI Please submit a $3000CND tuition deposit to YUELI. The payment method is indicated in the bottom of this page. You will receive the following documents once your payment is confirmed: a) York University Offer of Admission b) YUELI YUBridge Program Letter of Acceptance c) Receipt confirming your payment You may use these documents for your Canadian Temporary Resident Visa / Study Permit applications. 4 2 Accommodation Options and Information 3 Easy Steps to Request Your Accommodation at YUELI! Step 1: Read the information below carefully. Step 2: Submit your Accommodation Request Form and the minimum fee ($100 One-Time Placement Fee + $200 Accommodation Deposit) to YUELI. Step 3: Complete your full accommodation fee 4 weeks before Day One of the program. YUELI Accommodation Options YUELI Accommodation (Homestay/Residence) is available for students who are actively registered in a YUELI Program. Please request your accommodation by 8 weeks prior to the course starting date in order to secure your space in homestay or in residence. Students in YUBridge Program may request their accommodation for the first 8 weeks of their courses and arrange the extension beyond the 8th week after their arrival to YUELI. Homestay for 8 weeks Residence for 8 weeks (May to August) Residence for 8 weeks (September to April) One-time Placement Fee ($CAD) $ (non-refundable) Accommodation Fee ($CAD) $ $ $ Meal Option 3 meals included. 5 3 How To Submit Your Tuition Fee to YUELI Please make sure to read and understand YUELI s Transfer, Cancellation and Refund Policy before you make payments to YUELI. YUELI accepts payments in the following methods: a) Visa Card / MasterCard In person: Payments can be made by Visa or MasterCard in person at the YUELI office during our business hours. The credit card holder must be present with his or her photo ID. By Credit Card Authorization Form: 1) Submit the following documents: - Completed Credit Card Authorization Form - A clear photocopy of the both sides of the credit card - A clear photocopy of the cardholder s photo ID (passport, etc.) b) Debit Card: In person only. The debit cardholder must be present with his or her photo ID. c) Money Order (payable to York University): Please submit in person or send by mail to: York University English Language Institute (YUELI) 035 Founders College 4700 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario M3J 1P3 d) Bank Transfer: Please contact YUELI Office by (yueli@yorku.ca) for bank information. 6 YUBridge Program Transfer and Cancellation Policy For all transfers or cancellations, please: 1. Inform YUELI in writing by submitting the Transfer Request Form or Cancellation Request Form 2. Submit any required documents within 30 days of initial transfer or cancellation notification COURSE TRANSFER Students who wish to transfer to a future course within the YUBridge Program must submit a transfer request by one week prior to Day One of the course. Two transfers per students are allowed. Each transfer request is subject to a $100 transfer fee. Students who wish to transfer to Destination York Program must submit a transfer request by four weeks prior to Day One of the course. Each transfer from YUBridge Program to Destination York Program is subject to a $100 transfer fee. Transfer requests that are received after the specified deadlines above will not be accepted. CANCELLATION IMPORTANT: The Registration Fee, York University Application Fee, Testing Fee, Accommodation Placement Fee and the $3000 course deposit for YUBridge Program are non-refundable. Refunds issued by bank transfer will incur an additional bank charge of $25. To be eligible for a refund, the Cancellation Request Form and any necessary documentation must be received by YUELI within 30 days of the initial cancellation notification. Incomplete forms (missing contact information, signature, etc.) will not be processed. YUELI will issue refunds to the original payer by the same method used for the original payment. All refunds will be processed after Day One of the course. Normal processing time for refund payments by cheques and bank transfers is 4-6 weeks after the necessary documents are received by YUELI. Normal processing time for refund payments by credit cards and debit cards is one week after the necessary documents are received by YUELI. Refund cheques that are not cashed within six months will be cancelled. 11 Appendix B YUELI HOMESTAY STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT This Page Is For Homestay Students ONLY All students registered in the YUELI Homestay program must read and sign the following YUELI Homestay Code of Conduct. Students who do not obey the Code of Conduct rules could be dismissed and removed from the YUELI Homestay program. YUELI Homestay students are required to obey the follow Homestay rules: 1. Abide by the laws of Canada; 2. Respect the house rules as expressed by the host family; 3. Respect all the members of the host family; 4. Keep their bedroom and bathroom clean; 5. Inform the family if they are not arriving for dinner; 6. Inform the family in a timely manner if they are going to be away for the weekend, or sleeping somewhere else for the night(s); 7. Ask permission before using the Host s telephone for long distance calls and keep the length of the calls and telephone use to hours established by the Homestay family; students should purchase long distance phone cards; 8. Ask permission to bring friends to the family s house; 9. Ask permission before using the computer; students will not access any inappropriate websites such as those with pornographic content; 10. Do not buy or drink alcoholic beverages if under the age of 19 as per Ontario Law; discuss alcohol consumption in the home with the Homestay family if over the age of 19; 11. Follow the Homestay smoking policies (see reverse for YUELI s Smoking Policy); 12. Do not make any private financial arrangements with the YUELI host families; 13. Return the keys of the house and/or room when moving out; YUELI Homestay students are required to regularly communicate with the Student Services Coordinator. Specifically, students must: 14. Inform the Student Services Coordinator if the host family is going to be away and you, the student, is going to be left alone in the house, regardless of any arrangements made between the family and the student; 15. Inform the Student Services Coordinator if they plan to stay with their host families during any course breaks; 16. Communicate with the Student Services Coordinator for any persistent and/or serious concerns; 17. Attend three Homestay meetings with the Student Services Coordinator at week 1, 2 and 4 of the course; 18. Fill out the Homestay evaluation for every placement; YUELI Homestay students should also: 19. Read the YUELI s Accommodation Cancellation and Refund policies (see reverse for this policy); Smoking Policy in YUELI Homestays A student placed in a smoking household (YUELI has only one Homestay family that accepts smoking inside the house) is required to learn and follow the rules governing smoking indoors. Students placed in non-smoking households that accept smoking outside of the house should expect to smoke 9 meters from the house. Students or their guests found to be smoking inside the home or within 9 meters of the house can be asked to leave the Homestay. In such a case, YUELI will try to place the student with another family. If another family is not available, the student will be placed in a hotel, temporarily (and incur any additional expense) or until the end of their term at YUELI. Some families do not wish to host students who are smokers. YUELI will not place smokers with this type of family. Should students who identify themselves as non-smokers on their applications found to be smoking they can be asked to leave the Homestay. In such a case, YUELI will try to place the student with another family. If another family is not available, the student will be placed in a hotel temporarily (and incur any additional expense) or until the end of their term at YUELI. Students should ask permission from their Homestay families to bring friends that smoke inside the home. Smoking Policy at York University (From: Smoking is not permitted in any campus buildings and in student rooms in residences. I, have read and understand the above 19 rules and Smoking Policy at YUELI Homestay (print first and last name) and at York University. By signing my name, I agree to follow the above rules.
