By combining face-to-face tutoring with elements of online learning and the use of the Virtual Learning Environment, blended learning allows for greater variety and flexibility than teaching in a traditional classroom set up, responding to the total needs of the modern learner. Both, the online delivery model and the blended learning model, share a number of significant advantages for students such as: 24/7 access to learning resources Increased student participation as a result of being able to choose the learning environment, (online or blended learning), in which they feel more comfortable Closer monitoring of students' progress by tutors, using analytics provided by the UNICAF state-of-the art Virtual Learning Environment Ability to measure academic progress by collecting student data, that enable tutors to identify areas in which an individual student is excelling, or where they may need additional guidance and support Flexibility to fit learning around professional and family commitments Improved efficiency in learning: when students use adaptive learning technologies to work on their comprehension of new concepts, tutors can use the additional class time to give struggling students the individual attention they need 18

19 Use of learning technologies Living in a digital age has changed the ways we work, socialise and learn. We are now used to receiving a continuous stream of digital information, usually at a fast pace, and incorporating it into our daily working and social lives. The same principle now applies to learning. The use of technology is core to Unicaf University's operations. Innovative learning technologies provide a holistic environment, designed to offer support and flexibility, whilst maintaining quality and standards. The cutting-edge learning technologies used by Unicaf University elevate education to new levels, engaging students in new ways of learning, that are both productive and effective. Our Virtual Learning Environment enables our on-campus and online students to access learning material at any time of the day or night. Unicaf University students may review their class work, listen to audio files, watch videos and make use of the material their tutors use in class, whenever they choose to do so. This opportunity, to consolidate their learning in an engaging online environment, helps ensure success in coursework and examinations. Independent study skills are always important for success at university, and using the Virtual Learning Environment is a key part of our students' work. Students attending the tutorials are expected to participate in discussions, exchanging ideas and views with fellow students and the tutor. Additional teaching methods Unicaf University is committed to high quality, innovative teaching to help students reach their full potential. Through the use of technology, a wide range of additional learning methods is available to students. These include individual and group project work, problem-based and peer-assisted learning.
