2 MORRIS COUNTY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Frequently Asked Share Time Program Questions 1. Is there tuition cost to attend a Share Time Program? The tuition is paid by the student s home school district. There is no cost to the parents. 2. Transportation to MCST The home school district is responsible to provide transportation to and from MCST. There is no cost to the parents for this service. 3. What are the school hours? AM Session is from 8:00-10:40AM PM Session is from 12:10-2:50 PM 4. Who should apply to the Fundamentals Program? Students with IEP s who are looking for a self contained environment and smaller class size 5. If my child has an IEP or 504 Plan can they apply to any of the programs? Yes, all Share Time programs accept students with IEP s. 6. What is the admission process? 1. Parent/Guardian complete online application at Application deadline is March 31, Print and Sign Parent Release Form. Submit to High School Counselor. 3. High School will submit the remainder of the online application. 4. Applicants will be asked to attend a shadow/interview. 5. All applicants will receive notification of acceptance, waiting list, or non acceptance via that was provided on the application. 6. Home school districts will be notified of candidates who have accepted a seat at MCVSD.

3 AUTO SERVICE TECHNOLOGY Share Time 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The two year Automotive Service Technology Program offers students the opportunity to learn skills using current technology to prepare for entry level work in the industry or post-secondary experiences. The curriculum is based on CDX which is an interactive automotive training program. Automotive Service Technology instructors are ASE certified. 2-YEAR PROGRAM STUDIES INCLUDE Tool and Shop Safety Basic Automotive Systems Electrical Systems Braking Systems Engine Performance Steering and Suspension MATH AND SCIENCE INFUSION PROGRAM: Applied Math Concepts 1 Applied Science Concepts 1 Applied Math Concepts 2 Vocational and Technical Career Program = 15 credits per year Math and Science Infusion Programs = 5 credits per infusion program course ARTICULATION AGREEMENT with college credits earned from University of Northwestern Ohio. STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE AUTO SERVICE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as auto technicians, specialty technicians, and automotive service managers.

4 AUTO BODY & COLLISION REPAIR Share Time 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The two year Auto Body & Collision Repair Program has a hands-on design and provides students with the opportunity to experience the feel of an industry standard shop, with the use of tools and materials. The curriculum is based on ICAR industry standards. Tool and Shop Safety Basic Auto Body and Structural Repair Restoration Formula Paint Mixing and Custom Painting Estimating the cost of repairs MATH AND SCIENCE INFUSION PROGRAM: Applied Math Concepts 1 Applied Science Concepts 1 Vocational and Technical Career Program= 15 credits Infusion Program= 5 credits per infusion program course SECOND YEAR STUDIES INCLUDE Metal and Plastic Repair Welding Paint Preparation Process MATH INFUSION PROGRAM: Applied Math Concepts 2 Applied Science Concepts 2 Vocational and Technical Career Program= 15 credits Math and Science Infusion Program= 5 credits per infusion program course STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE AUTO BODY/COLLISION REPAIR PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as auto body technicians, collision repair technicians, and automotive painters.

5 BUILDING & GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SERVICES Share Time 1, 2 OR 3 Year Program Grades 10 thru 12 The one, two, or three year Building and Grounds Maintenance Program is an exploration of interior and exterior maintenance of buildings and the surrounding grounds. Tool and Shop Safety Knowledge of basic skills in the following trade related areas: Electricity Plumbing Carpentry Landscaping Painting General Cleaning and Maintenance Vocational and Technical Career Program= 20 credits SECOND and THIRD YEAR STUDIES INCLUDE Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operations Materials Handling and Forklift Operations Qualified students may: Take the Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operations State Licensing Examination Earn the OSHA Forklift Operations Certification Vocational and Technical Career Program= 20 credits STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE BUILDING & GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SERVICES PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as maintenance or custodial personnel, repair workers, landscapers, and painters.

6 COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN AND DRAFTING (CADD) Share Time 2 Year Program Grades The two year CADD Program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to transform architectural and engineering designs into finished drawings using state of the art computer equipment and the latest software releases. Basic concepts, commands, and operations of AutoCAD software Introduction to advanced techniques, such as 3D Design Vocational and Technical Career Program = 20 credits SECOND YEAR STUDIES INCLUDE Advanced customization Photo-realistic graphics Animation techniques using current industry 3D Studio Design software Vocational and Technical Career Program = 20 credits ARTICULATION AGREEMENT with college credits earned from the County College of Morris. STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN AND DRAFTING (CADD) PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as designers, 3D modelers and animators, and blueprint drafters.

7 CARPENTRY Share Time 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The two year Carpentry program offers students a comprehensive understanding of the aspects of residential home construction and basic architectural principles. 8 COSMETOLOGY Share Time 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The two year Cosmetology Program is designed to prepare students for eligibility to take the NJ Board of Cosmetology State Licensing Examination. 9 ELECTRICAL TRADES Share Time 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The two year Electrical Trades program offers students basic electrical training and fundamentals necessary to obtain trade-related employment. TWO YEAR PROGRAM STUDIES INCLUDE Tool and Shop Safety Residential and Commercial Wiring Motor Controls Telecommunications Computer Installations Low Voltage Wiring Fire and Burglar Alarm Systems Fiber Optics MATH AND SCIENCE INFUSION PROGRAM: Applied Math Concepts 1, Applied Math Concepts 2 Applied Science Concepts 1, Applied Science Concepts 2 Vocational and Technical Career Program= 15 credits per year Math and Science Infusion Programs= 5 credits per infusion program course ARTICULATION AGREEMENT with college credits earned from Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State University). STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE ELECTRICAL TRADES PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as electricians, electrical helpers, utility workers, and union apprentices.

10 FUNDAMENTALS OF FOOD SERVICES Share Time 1, 2 or 3 Year Program Grades 10 thru 12 The one, two, or three year Food Services Program focuses on a wide-range of skills necessary to enter the food service Industry using hands-on experiences in an industry standard kitchen and formal dining area. Fundamentals courses are special class programs with modified curriculum and a maximum teacher-student ratio of 1:10. Food Safety Sanitation Food Identification Basic Food Preparation Vocational and Technical Career Program= 20 credits SECOND and THIRD YEAR STUDIES INCLUDE Methods of Cooking Menu Planning Hot and Cold Food Preparation Introduction to Baking Table Service Vocational and Technical Career Program= 20 credits STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE FOOD SERVICES PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as prep cooks, pantry cooks, dietary assistants, baker assistants, bakery clerks, and cake decorators.

11 PLUMBING and PIPE FITTING Share Time 1 or 2 Year Program Grades 11 and 12 The one or two year Plumbing Program teaches students basic principles and practices related to plumbing, pipe fitting, and heating in residential/commercial environments in preparation for trade-related employment. TWO YEAR PROGRAM STUDIES INCLUDE Tool and Shop Safety Plumbing Codes Hands on Training Water pipe installation including PEX and copper sweating Gas pipe installation including cutting, threading and flexible gas piping Cast Iron, PVC, and ABS drainage systems Venting systems Mechanical piping of water and steam heating systems Drafting of mechanical and plumbing systems Design and Installation of Fixtures for Bathrooms, Kitchens, and Hot Water Heaters Green Technology as it relates to the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry Blueprint Reading Demonstrate Layout of Commercial/Industrial Applications Build scaled down plumbing and heating systems to standards Troubleshooting of Residential and Commercial Systems Installations and Repairs of Residential and Commercial Systems Study the origins and advances of the Plumbing/Construction Trades Identify Tools, Materials, Pipes and Fittings MATH AND SCIENCE INFUSION PROGRAM: Applied Math Concepts 1, Applied Math Concepts 2 Applied Science Concepts 1, Applied Math Concepts 2 Vocational and Technical Career Program= 15 credits per year Math and Science Infusion Program= 5 credits per infusion program course STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE PLUMBING 2-YEAR PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as plumbers, plumber assistants, pipe fitters, and plumbing apprentices.

12 FUNDAMENTALS OF RETAIL & SUPERMARKET CAREERS Share Time 1, 2 OR 3 Year Program Grades 10 thru 12 The one, two, or three year Retail & Supermarket Careers Program provides specialized, hands-on opportunities for students interested in pursuing occupations in the retail and/or supermarket industries. Students directly apply their knowledge and skills with practical experiences in the MCVSD Supermarket, which is open to our campus community. Fundamentals courses are special class programs with modified curriculum and a maximum teacher-student ratio of 1:10. PROGRAM STUDIES INCLUDE Food Safety and Sanitation Procedures Supermarket and Retail Business Operations Product Placement and Display Design Customer Service Skills Money Handling Skills Cash Register Operations General Produce Knowledge Proper Grocery Bagging Techniques Small Scale Bakery Preparations Professional Skills Resume Development Successful Job Interview Techniques Knowledge of Proper Business Attire Job Application Completion Skills Taught Participation in MCVSD s Student Marketing Organization Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) DECA sponsors regional, state, and national level opportunities for students to compete in events centered on retail and supermarket careers, as well as many other areas of business and marketing. Vocational and Technical Career Program= 20 credits per year STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE RETAIL AND SUPERMARKET CAREERS PROGRAM have pursued post-secondary education and/or employment as bakery, deli, meat, and seafood department personnel, customer assistant clerks, and retail assistants.

13 WELDING Share Time 1 or 2 Year Program The two year Welding Program provides instructions for students in various welding and cutting processes as below.
