3 Introduction to Coventry University London Campus Launched in October 2010, Coventry University s London Campus offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We believe there is no better place to learn about business than in the heart of the world s financial markets; in a city that is a global trading centre. Studying at Coventry University London Campus, students will be located near to the home of government and the centre of finance and trade; and surrounded by many theatres, museums and galleries that contribute to the rich heritage of the capital. London Coventry University London Campus students enjoy being based at the heart of the UK s capital city near to St Paul s Cathedral, the Bank of England, Lloyds of London, the Stock Exchange and many other recognisable buildings and landmarks. London is a unique and exciting place to study and live. From famous sights, museums and theatres to designer fashion, restaurants, clubs and shopping, it s packed with ways for students to get the most out of their time here. London is an ideal base for exploring the UK and the rest of Europe. It is an international transport hub with several major train stations, making it easy to get to most of the UK s main cities within a few hours. With the Eurostar, students can be in Brussels in 2 hours and in Paris in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Other European destinations are only a short flight away from one of London s five main airports. 3
4 Coventry University London Campus Summer School: An international business summer school in the City of London Coventry University London Campus is pleased to offer undergraduate students from across the world the opportunity to spend their summer studying in the City of London. We run 3-week long courses throughout the summer. Students study one module per course and can enrol on more than one course. Why Coventry University London Campus? Coventry University is one of the largest providers of business related degree courses in Europe and by studying at the London Campus, students will benefit from Coventry s high teaching standards in a metropolitan environment at the heart of one of the world s most important financial centres. All our courses focus on employability skills and include many work-related activities to prepare students for successful international business careers. 4
5 What does the summer school offer? Induction Academic programme Social programme Accommodation Airport pick-up Induction: On their first day at Coventry University London Campus, students will attend an induction programme to meet fellow students and staff and they will be given all the information they need to settle into university and London life. In the morning there will be an information session during which students will be enrolled. Students will be given general information about the summer school, a tour of the campus and information about computing and the Learning Resource Centre. We will also give them useful information about the local area. Students will then have the opportunity to explore the area and socialise as they take part in fun activities such as a treasure hunt. Finally, in the evening, there will be a welcome party, giving students the opportunity to spend time with their new friends. Academic offer: By attending Coventry University London Campus summer school, students will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons through a programme of accredited modules in the fields of global business, marketing and human resource management. Through a series of knowledgecasts (lectures), seminars, practical activities and module-related excursions to enhance learning, they will deepen their understanding of global business and increase their practical skills. Students will be able to select one 15 credit module per course. Modules will be repeated in each course, subject to demand. Coventry University London Campus is a technology enabled campus. Our teaching rooms are equipped with the latest technology to enhance students learning experience and they access all their learning resources online so it is important that all students bring a laptop to the summer school. We offer a variety of modules at undergraduate level and would be happy to liaise with institutions to ensure that our offer fits with institutions programmes and agree credit transfers if necessary. We provide a free airport pick-up service to students arriving at any London airport, between 8.00am and 6.00pm providing that they inform us of their arrival time at least 5 days in advance. If institutions are sending a group of students to study at Coventry University London Campus, we would be happy to arrange a pick-up for them outside these hours. Accommodation: All summer school students will be housed in self-catering student accommodation near the London campus. The security of students is a priority. We ensure that all accommodation has high levels of safety. Most accommodation is equipped with internet, making it easy for students to keep in touch with friends and family at home and to study for their modules. Coventry University London Campus has a dedicated student services team who will be happy to assist and advise students during their time with us. Social and cultural programme: Coventry University London Campus offers all summer school students the opportunity to participate in a programme of exciting activities in London and day and weekend trips to other parts of the UK and Europe.
